The food was good. We enjoyed breakfast and there was a wait but they were very organized and swift. Our waitress was a little frazzled but still polite. They forgot waters and coffee refills. Overall food was above average. Eggs Benedict was not the best I’ve ever had but chicken and waffles was very good!

Great food! Huge portions! Friendly always stuffed when I leave. Can’t wait to get back. Best chicken fried steak! Home style cooking. Like grandma’s kitchen.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way out of town. The food was good and the prices even better. Our two kids shared a meal and it was more than enough for them. The biscuits are homemade and perfect. The omelets were a good size and had fresh ingredients (cut tomatoes, not from a can) and delicious. Staff were all extremely friendly and very attentive to the customers. It appears to be popular with the locals.

Mixed review. My family went to Shirley’s for a simple home-cooked style breakfast. As expected the food was great. But before we got our food, we experienced something that was not expected – poor service. You see, when we entered we waited for several minutes with not one of the many employees even acknowledging our presence waiting to be seated. We noticed that a few saw us standing there and waiting, but no one said anything and kept walking back and forth. When we finally were acknowledged, we were refused to be seated until the staff could roll silverware and it became a whole production. We had someone of authority come out and complain about their family not doing their job. We also caught that there was a bit of a change over occurring for the hostess as a new one happened to be being trained – but not in being the hostess. She was apparently running everywhere else busing tables, delivering water, and being taught how to attend to the regulars rather than what was expected of the hostess in relation to the greeting of customers, etc. As I mentioned, the food was great, it was all the other nonsense that distracted from the experience. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for them and a situation that will remedy itself in short order.

Thumbs Up. We eat at Shirley’s Diner fairly often. After riding some reviews today, I decided to try a breakfast versus my usual tenderloin. For $5 something, I had a perfectly prepared hard egg with no crusty edges which I don’t like, two pieces of bacon, hash downs that were crispy on the outside and a pleasant soft-textured inside, and two dollar pancakes that are the size of a bread plate. I make my own pancakes with buttermilk, and contrary to one review, thought Shirley’s were comparable to mine. I don’t know if the coffee is an already prepared liquid or not, I do know two different brands of coffee were on the shelf below the maker as well as a huge pile of coffee filters. Regardless, the coffee was pleasantly coffe tasting without the bitterness that I generally don’t like from well-known coffee places. My husband had breaded tenderloin with mashed potatoes. If the potatoes aren’t prepared from scratch, I would certainly like knowing the brand as they are good. As always, the food and service were equally good.

Tasty and Inexpensive. Its got that old school diner feel to it. Food comes out quick and great portion sizes and a small bill at the end. Service is great too, Really no complaints or even recommendations as this place should and can be able to hold its own for many years to come if they keep up what they are doing now. I would recommend this place to anyone and have already sent a few people their way.
