Ok, I have never been to a Winchell’s in my life. First time was yesterday with my wife. Always wanted to try Winchell’s, just never have for some reason. The positives first. Place was clean and service was nice. Now, the negatives. Yes, it was late in the day and the donuts aren’t going to be as fresh as they are in the morning but the donuts we got tasted 2 days old. Cake donuts very dry. Thought glazed donuts had a funny flavor. Won’t be back.
We have been going to this Winchell’s for several years. We don’t live in the neighborhood but it was worth a little bit of a drive. Today I asked for a pretty basic donut (cake donut w/white frosting & rainbow sprinkles) and the lady behind the counter had no problem being rude to me telling me that what I see is what I have to choose from. After that she continued to be rude by rushing me as if she had somewhere else to be or as if I was bothering her. I’m not an unreasonable person. I understand that Winchell’s may run out of a popular donut from time to time BUT I absolutely will not spend my money at a place where employees treat their customers the way this lady treated me today. I regret not walking out today and definitely will not be returning. There are plenty of other donut shops to choose from.
