Come get your Cajun. With a cook who relocated here from New Orleans in the wake of Katrina, Taste of New Orleans offers an abbreviated menu of Cajun classics from its kitchen on wheels. They typically serve from the Canfields parking lot near 86th and West Center Road Thursday through Saturdays, from lunchtime until early evening.It’s best to get there early, as items tend to sell out by early afternoon.They were out of the shrimp po’boys by the time I stopped, so I opted for the catfish version. There was about a 10 minute wait, as others were ahead of me in line. But the wait was worth it, as the po’boys was of ample size, and had quite a bit of seasoned, fried catfish set atop the lettuce and tomato base. A nice remoulade dressing was zig-zagged across the fish. All in all it made for a satisfying lunch.If you are hankering for your Taste of New Orleans some other day of the week you are not out of luck, as one phone call will provide you with their location for that day. Their Facebook page is also updated with their menu and location.
