This place was hard to get into, but the experience wasnt that overwhelming. There was nothing on the menu that was too outstanding, and the drinks were okay.
We came here after the farmer’s market on sunday. The food was good, and the atmosphere was pleasant. However we were told by one of the waiters about their mimosa special of getting two and mimosas after that were 1 cent. Little did we know the person was incorrect. We ended up paying 3 times as much more drinks than we paid for food. They knocked 5 drinks of our ticket but left more than half of them. Very upset with their customer service to say the least.
I loved everything about this place! It’s small enough that each person gets wonderful service. The atmosphere is relaxed with couches lining the windows. You can come and sit with friends for a drink or food or both. It is true to the New Orleans roots from po boys to the Sazarac, and the drinks are wonderful too. Try the havarti crab dip or the muffaletta. I would say to go early or make reservations because it was packed by 630 on the weekend. Kudos to the owner and staff, their doing it right!
Yes, yes, yes!!! This place is doing it right. They obviously did their homework– a great representation of the New Orleans food and drink scene. Excited to have a place like Herbe Sainte in the Midwest. Go visit! You won’t be disappointed!
