La Mesa has always been an Omaha staple for Mexican food and now I see why. Just here for the first time with the wife. I have had a taste of La Mesa at Werner park but, we had never eaten at any of the restaurants. We started with the chicken nachos. Awesome! I’ve had them before at the ball park. Good as always but, you get more at the restaurant. Like, enough for a whole meal. My wife had the Chimichanga. Very crispy and good. I had the de mesa enchiladas. Cheese, beef, chicken. Very good. Fried ice cream to top it off. Very awesome!
I have never had a bad meal at any La Mesa. The salsa is the perfect temperature and flavor (not too much Cilantro and plenty of onions) and the chips are light yet sturdy. My problem is always what to order. Every time I try something new that is all I eat for the next couple of visits. Tonight I broke away from the norm and tried the Pasta ala Mesa with Shrimp. The vegetables are fajita prepared which have a great added flavor to the sauce. The shrimp were large and the pasta was prepared al dente like I like it. I purposely did not eat the entire thing and have a delicious lunch waiting for me tomorrow. My husband had the El Patron because that is his current favorite. There was some confusion as to whether or not rice was included and they gave it to him at no extra charge. With a beer and two margaritas, our bill was just over $40. Well worth the money.
Sub-par to say the least. As a matter of convenience I go here with co-workers but I always wish I hadn’t. If you can get past the tanning bed smell as you enter, you still have to contend with bland food, mediocre service and, based on the raging headache I have, vast amounts of MSG. Why this place is so popular I will never understand.
Always a good choice. Weve been going here for years always a good meal at just the right price
Most disgusting food in Omaha. I ordered nachos and they were soggy which means they had been sitting there for awhile. And they were cold. Decent margaritas but I wouldn’t go there just for that. Rude service. I’ll never go back.
Very good chicken tortilla soup. We love La Mesa.
Favorite. We love LaMesa, our favorite Mexican in town. Always consistent, always fast service. They recently changed the salsa and I have to say not in a good way. Go back to the old recipe please!! Other than that, we go at least a couple of times a month. The only other negative is the weird sewer smell in the entry/store area. Please do something about that.
