I was pleased with the selection and quality. There are even options for non-seafood lovers. They break everything down to regions. Try have Cajun seafood, Baka, pacific rim, Asian, northwest, etc. I would definitely go again.
High expectations.. After venturing from Luxor to Rio, a $12.00 taxi ride, we were excited for some delicious seafood. The price was a bit hard to take at first. $103.00 for 2 people. We were seated and began looking around at the offerings, which were always full and for the most part fresh. As promised, there were crab legs and some pretty good fried seafood options. The major disappointment was the Lobster. Overall, they delivered on the promise of endless seafood, but the steep price tag left me wanting more.
Enjoyed My First Visit & Will Visit Again.. The only thing that I regret about my first visit in May 2014, was that I failed to view the entire display of food prior to fixing my first and second plates. I plan on visiting this establishment again during my return visit in 2015.
We went with friends who have been in the past and raves about the high quality of the seafood here. We were all disappointed and they were embarrassed they’d taken us there. The crab was watery and the lobster and prawns were over cooked. The sushi choices were limited and basic. This place did not live up to its reputation, for the price it was definatly not worth it.
Not the Kind of Place to Go if You Are Looking for Quality Dining. Well, when this buffet opened in the late 90’s, it was the state of the art. It was amazing. I was giddy with excitement the first time I went. There were easily 25-30 different types of sushi and sashimi on ice. Cioppino was a staple seafood soup. The buffet was almost twice the size that it is now. Now it is a shadow of its former self. The sushi is extremely basic with California rolls and basic raw salmon being the main sushi and sashimi. There used to be caviar. A few years ago the caviar disappeared and was replaced with masago. Now there is neither, yet the price of the buffet has risen.Where they used to have whole lobster, now it is chopped up along with the shells and served in a big stainless steel rectangular pan with tongs that you serve yourself. Of course, you wait fifteen minutes in a line of salivating patrons who rake in as much that will fit on a plate or two for their own consumption. The quality is only average at best. This is sad because, this too used to be quality.Steamed mussels were bland and overly steamed to the point of excessive dryness. The raw bar had all the regular items, and of course the patrons made the most of it. This wouldn’t be so upsetting, until you notice how much wasted food is left on the table after the diners leave at the end of a meal. It’s both depressing and disappointing. They did have beef ribs, and I had two servings of them. They really were burnt to a crisp, but I found that they were tolerable compared to most of the other food I encountered. The seafood enchiladas, while looking good were deceptive. I was only able to down half of one due to it being overcooked, the tortilla being as tough as a potholder. They have a nice salad bar, but who is fooling who? No one was wasting their time on the salad bar while there are so many hot entrees to consume. I did not partake any of the desserts either, although my friend had several. He seemed to enjoy them. Neither one of us really commented on the meal. It was really about quantity, not quality.Service was all right. Drinks were refilled. My main complaint was that I could not hear our server. I noticed a man in the corner of my eye standing, and when I looked, he asked if I needed another tea. I don’t know how long he had been standing there, but he could have spoken just a little louder. Otherwise, he was very competent in his job.I was glad to have gone back after a few years to see what has changed, but I was not happy with the results. When the Village Seafood Buffet opened, it was fine dining with charm, excellent word of mouth reviews and food worthy of praise. Little by little things have changed. Now it has done a one eighty. Food is below average and as for setup, it might as well be hog troughs the way people line up to it. Patrons don’t seem to mind. After all, it is seafood and it’s all about all you can eat. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give Village Seafood Buffet one oink.
Not what it used to be, poor quality, service was good though, even though I thought I was paying for good food!
Just plain bad. Wanted to go to the Village Seafood Buffet for years and finally, in November 2011, we did. It was bad. Just… bad. Food heaped up in sloppy, unappealing and unlabled heaps. Sure there is tonnes of it and lots to choose from but frankly, none of it was worth eating. From unpleasant sushi to overdone deep fried fish right on down to ice cream they laughingly call gelato it was a really bad experience. It’s a good place if you are starved for any kind of seafood or have never been to a mega-buffet before. Otherwise please save your money.
