I was thoroughly impressed with Freddy’s. I saw an advert for it off of eastern and 215 and decided since I was in the neighborhood to try it out. The service was excellent, food delicious, and the atmosphere was very nice. I would rather eat here than 5 guys up the street. I’ll be back many more times.
Not as good as I-N-O, way better than 5 Guys. Spotted this place this morning in the old Fazoli’s location on Eastern and had to try it. If you’ve been to Steak ‘n Shake at the South Point, that’s a good comparison. The burgers are flattened out which creates a halo of crispy deliciousness around the perimeter, but they are still relatively juicy for a well done burger. I got a patty melt on grilled rye bread with nicely caramelized onions and lots of cheese. It came with a big pile of very crisp shoestring fries, which were sprinkled with the house seasoned salt. Both were quite good. My fast food gold standard is In-N-Out, and while the burger was not quite as good, the fries were superior, though they did not have as much potato flavor as the fresh-cut I-N-O fries. I got a small concrete, but either the custard wasn’t firm enough or the employees need to work on their technique because it was more shake-like than concrete. What will keep me coming back to this place, however, is the hot dogs. They are Vienna Beef dogs, which I like nearly as much as the Hebrew National dogs I eat at home. But the kicker is that they are served on buttered, grilled, top-split buns like I grew up on in Maine. I haven’t seen any other place in Vegas that offers these buns (PLEASE let me know if I am wrong), and they are worth the price of admission. A good slathering of yellow mustard and few sport peppers on top and I was transported back to New England, all I was missing was a bottle of Moxie (just kidding, Moxie is nasty). And did I mention they have diet Dr. Pepper as one of their fountain drink choices? Another reason to like this place. I will definitely go back, especially if I’m craving a great dog on an even better bun.
