So let’s start this out with what was good. The chips, salsa, and bean dip were excellent. The Mango chili Margarita was very good. We dined on the Saturday night of Valentine’s day weekend, and it was packed; we were ready to forgive minor errors. We ordered the combination appetizer and 2 of the Fajitas Azul. The Good: Chips, dip and salsa came out fast followed shortly by the mango chili margaritas. Everything was going rather well at this point.30+ minutes past. Our drinks were empty, our chips gone, our waiter nowhere in sight, our appetizers also nowhere. My wife tried to get the attention of more than one of the restaurant’s staff, and was forced to raise her voice to get anyone’s attention. When she explained that we had been done with our drinks for quite some time and had never been visited by our server in 30 minutes, the person left, got our server, and asked us to tell them what was wrong. THAT’S STRIKE 1! Being forced to question the ability of waitstaff is insulting enough, but expecting us to repeat ourselves is over the top. It could have been handled differently, even if our server simply asked himself what was wrong, that would have been acceptable; but to word it like either we were bothering the other staff member or we are there to teach our waiter…the experience was unpleasant.Things got worse. Within 2 minutes everything arrived at the table at once. The appetizer was cold and soggy. Fluatas that were limp, chimichangas that fell apart so easily it was as if they were mashed. The Shrimp wrapped in bacon cooled to the point the fat congealed underneath. Our fajitas were insultingly bad. They are advertised on the menu as containing a special marinade containing cilantro, olive oil, and white wine. The meat came to the table in giant pieces and was dry without seasoning. There was absolutely no cilantro, I promise you that I am aware of what cilantro does to meat and this was decent cuts of meat that were cooked without seasoning. The skillets came out not quite cold but definitely not sizzling. The Queso Fundido was one solid piece in the bowl with a seperated liquid layer around the top.No dish plates provided.Someone who seemed to be a manager or owner or person in authority asked us if everything was fine. We told him what was wrong, and again we were put through the experience of having our server brought to us so we could repeat our complaint. The person of authority then informed us that the server had taken our table shortly followed by a table of seven, and was preferentially giving service to the larger table because they would tip more.I was wearing a blue suit, my wife was in a dress. My shoes cost $350, were freshly shined. I have no idea why anyone would assume I’m a poor tipper. I give 30% more often than 20%, which is my minimum.Getting back to the manager type person. After explaining to us that our server decided to favor another party over us, he told us to not tip. That it was the only way that he would learn. AGAIN, we were put in the position of teaching the staff. WE DID NOT SIGN UP AS STANDARDIZED PATRONS!!!!! We shouldn’t have been told that our waiter intentionally gave us bad service, even if it were true. We shouldn’t have been given permission to not tip as a way to make up for poor service, but rather should have had items comp’d, or simply given good service or good food. None of these options were afforded to us. We were never offered any options to fix the poor food quality. We were offered a free margarita, which we took them up on. After about 5-7 minutes we were told they were out of mango. I asked for watermelon, but they informed me the only flavor they had left was cucumber jalapeno. Within two minutes a different server with the party next to us took orders for margaritas of varying varieties; and we stayed long enough to see them served. This restaurant provided us with very poor service, very poor food, very poor response to bringing these matters to the attention of ranking staff, and this was all followed up with a 90 dollar bill delivered without anything taken off for our troubles. It was as if they were intentionally trying to single us out for insult. Other tables looked happy, had sizzling hot fajitas that were properly cut and smelled delicious delivered to them. I have no idea why they don’t mind providing the worst experience south lake/stateline has to offer to at least some of their patrons.I feel personally insulted. It was so bad my wife started crying in the restaurant. I never in my wildest dreams thought a restaurant could be so bad they ruin valentines day. I’d have paid 15 grand to have avoided how bad this scene was. When we saw nothing was comp’t on the bill, and that we were being asked to pay $90 dollars for food that was still disgustingly present on the table, we informed the greeter that we were disputing the bill. To the greeters credit, she comp’d it entirely.
