We were looking for a place to eat in Downtown Vegas and found La Comida from online reviews. It is only a few minutes walk away from the Downtown Vegas experience and easy to spot with the large neon light of the monkey hanging off the corner.Walking in to the restaurant, you will go down a narrow hall with a religious statue at the end. Once inside, you will see a mix of Mexican/ Vegas dcor neon lights, skulls, and religious statues/crosses and one long bar filled with an array of tequila.Drinks:We ordered various margaritas that were served in mason jars $12-14 USD and a pitcher of sangria $29 everyone agreed the drinks were delicious.Starters:Chips and Salsa (complimentary)Nachos Poblanos $9 USD – carne asada, chicken, guacamole, oxaca chese, jalapenos, pico de gallo & beans. You only get 6 nachos but each thick nacho is fully loaded with all the toppings. If nachos were classy this would be it.Mains:Fish tacosEnchilada de Pollo pulled chicken, quesa fresco, onions, mole poblano sauceBurrito con Pollo this thing was heavy. Packed with rice and chicken and covered in mole sauce.Puerco Ahumado smoked pork shoulder, adovada sauce and plaintain chips. This was one of their most popular dishes where you would fill a soft shell taco with the pork to eat it. Or just straight out of the dish whatever you prefer. The meat was tender.Portions are large and the food was consistent. The drinks and nachos were delicious but I found the other entrees to be just average and even lacking in a bit of flavor.Service is friendly.

I loved the setting of the place and the warm ambiance however i found most of the dishes a bit too salty fland cheesy for my taste but the drinks were amazing. I dont want to be very subjective about this place and i would definitely come back next time i am in town

So best thing I can say is the place had a nice decor. The food was poor quality and poorly prepared. The portion was ridiculously tiny and overpriced. The service was terrible. We had to ask for a waiter three times We had asked to sit outside but told there was a twenty minute wait but there were several empty tables and several more waiting to be cleaned. I felt unwelcome and bother to the staff. Overall I’d say tourist trap you should walk on by.

Ignore the bad reviews. This is a great place for Mexican style food. The Funditos, sliced corn, and roasted pork are my favorites. I have been 3 times in the last year on trips and the value for food is great. The price is perfect as well for Las Vegas.

This place blows. Went there last night. The food was overpriced and bland. The food took forever to be brought out and it was cold. The server brought fajitas without tortillas. Who does that? Chili’s has better fajitas than this place. It has a good location and that’s how they stay in business. Avoid this place.

Not impressed at all- SERVICE (6) AMBIANCE (7) BAR (7) COMIDA (5)– wifey wanted to try this place & ofcourse we did, She started out with a prickly pear margarita I the guava both we’re not whut we expected no flavor of the fruits—- settled for a brewski- she water— ceviche trio was not bad but not too fresh either, wonder if they use fresh fish????? Sopes were sopes—also had seabass with some tomato sauce, could have been more creative— I had the skirt steak with mushrooms, steak was ok- mushrooms ok, again need more creativity— at this point we just try to make the best of it, I had to have a shot of patron to feel our time was worth the parking hassle downtown, overall it’s a pretty cool looking place but really need some kind of training standard to really make their guests feel welcome, after all that’s why people get employed! The food REALLY needs some help – creativity I think is the most important & ofcourse fresh ingridients (fish & shell fish) salsas we’re kinda bland aswell, after dinner we really reminisced about the El Jefe’s Mexican restaraunt that is gone, please come back & save our mexican palate. They should consider creating new dishes that are a lil more modern in taste – plating – & ingridients- good luck guys!
