Charlotte’s Web. Entering the restaurant is a trap. The quiet interior and the occasional diners on a hectic Friday night leave the impression on a five star refuge from the madness of Fremont Street. How wrong. The madness begins within. The service is attentive but very young. The wine list is skinny and the glass offerrings are yesterday’s opened bottles. The food sounds inviting but then it arrives with all the appearance of a culinary school class project. The lettuce wrap appeared as a deconstucted taco without the chips. The filling was literally that… Taco meat. the miso glazed cod was neither cod nor miso. It was butter drenched snapper or possibly the gray cod used for cat food. It was not the sable fish or black cod you expect in a fancy asian restaurant. The crispy noodle upon which it was presented could double as an adobe brick for the nearby mission. The real treat however was the single piece of baby bokchoy which was warmed in the microwave without ever seeing water, flame, salt or seasoning. It was a napkin to the mouth moment. The bamboo steamed snapper with veggies was both. It was also the old piece of fish they had on hand and the least flavorful veggies in eclectic mix kitchen could scrounge up for the plate. it have tried worse food. It was at the Intourist Hotel back in Kiev in 1984. The complete absence of a manager, a chef, or any adult supervision made the whole experience quite a comparison to similar price point restaurants on the strip. The one unexpected saving grace which made the web of disappointment less embracing was the single act of professiomalism by the young waiter. He saw that we ate none of our meals, asked pointedly about it, accepted our opinions, then went off for an eternity and came back with the meals removed from our bill. He got the hefty tip. I hope he escapes and gets a chance to work at a fine dinning establishment on the strip. This place is a trap for both diners and food service professionals.

Secret Surprise Downtown. Tucked away in the Fremont Hotel / Casino you’ll discover one of the hidden gems of Dowtown. Quiet relaxed atmosphere with great food at a resonable price. Extensive wine list and just a darn good place to dine away from all the din.One of our goto places when we are downtown and want a relaxing meal.

Great Place!. Discovered it accidentially on New Year’s Eve, 1998 and have been going back religiously! Tony is the same waiter we have had since ’98. Slow moving. Wife, adult kids and friends love the place.

Who would think you were in a casino?!? You enter the restaurant and the cling/clang of the slots are gone. Dark & relaxing. Slow paced great food. Great place to eat drinkand talk. When I think of this restaurant is makes me smile 🙂
