Ok. I really should have read the reviews first. But alas, we got the steak and lobster for 12 bucks. Mmm K. I can sum this up very very easily. Cruise Food. This is what youd get on a cruise buffet. But Im not mad, after all it was only 12 dollars. But, do NOT get an alcohol drink here. Blech. We never saw our waitress and had 3 different ones. Not to mention, no attention. Not just us, but everyone. Id be uber surprised if this is what Tony Roma had in mind for his standards as part of his chains. Id be curious to know what he thought if he came here and had to eat this. Just sayin.
With only 19 locations left in the United States, Tony Roma’s restaurants are not the major deal that they were in the 70’s and 80’s. This one in the Fremont Hotel in downtown Las Vegas always has been bustling. The last three times I’ve been here the wait had been over ninety minutes–much longer than we wanted to wait. This time the wait was only about 20 minutes. I offered to sit at the bar, but they said that they do not serve food there. I was seated at a two-top in a darkened dining area with a packed house. I immediately was given a menu. My drink order of iced tea was taken and quickly brought to me. I wanted the basic rack of baby back ribs, but wanted the Smoky BBQ sauce. After about a ten minute wait, my piping hot ribs were brought to me along with fries and a small ramekin of cole slaw, and a small ramekin of additional barbecue sauce.I was surprised to find that these baby backs had minimal meat. What I had was good, the smokiness of the sauce was really piquant. I was concerned at first that maybe I should have ordered only a half a rack. Well I’m glad I ordered a full rack or I would have been starving. The small amount of cole slaw did not help matters. What was there was good and had a good vinegary bite. They served me a large amount of fries though, so that made up for the small amounts of everything else.A diner next to me inquired about what I was having, so it must have looked good from a distance. He order ribs as well, but he looked like he was much less happy than I was. He left the table for a moment after taking a bite and hunted down the server. I don’t really know what happened, because I was just getting ready to leave at that point.Speaking of server, our server was on top of things. Follow up with refills was great. She was nice and friendly and was concerned about the diners throughout the restaurant. While the food was decent, I’d have to repeat that the amount of meat on the baby backs was disappointingly meager. So much so that it would probably keep me from returning.
Why would anyone eat here?. I had ZERO expectations for this place, and it did not disappoint. Tony Roma’s is no better than a Ponderosa type steak house and could possibly be worse. The only reason we ate there is because someone in our party was hungry, and he was enticed by the price, and we were right in front of it! The steak and lobster as advertised was 11.99. You certainly get what you pay for! The place was dirty – food all over the floor, the steaks were about 1/4 inch thick with a sickly-grayish hue, and the shrimp cocktail was frozen, then thawed shrimp – rubbery and gross. Again, I had no expectations for this place, didn’t want to go there, and my gut feelings were correct! If you’re not picky about freshness, taste, cleanliness or service, then this place is for you!
Service was dreadful, but food was good. My family and I enjoyed the ribs, steak, and salmon.
Good value. It was busy but the wait was about 15 which was consistent with his estimate. The $12 steak and lobster was better than I thought it would be and a pitcher of bud light for $8. Service was good. In the land of overpriced mediocrity (on the strip anyway) I was happy with my cheap special.
Horrible omg how did 52% of people like this?!?! Hard rubbery mushrooms horrible undersized tough steak. Gross!
Surf And Turf !!!. Weve travelled to Vegas many times and have never been able to get into Tony Romas. This time was a success. We (smartly) went to get in line for a table at around 825ish. The Surf and Turf special runs from 9pm-11pm. We got seated just before 9 and were able to order the Special! 11.99 for steak and lobster. My steak was served to me MR when I had ordered it MW. It was a huge deal. I was actually very drunk at the time and had already enjoyed mozza sticks with the table as an appy. Im definetly happy we finally made it in TR to enjoy their special. Everyone at my table was happy with the special (with the exception of me not loving my steak so much). You cant go wrong going to Tony Romas!! Try it next time youre there!!
