D1 is definitely an attempt at a higher level of ambience than most of your Vietnamese ph and banh mi places. It almost has the vibe of a sports bar. Yet still has the traditional menu you would expect. But with a few twists. One of those twists was the Vietnamese beef carpaccio. One of the pricier appetizers, yet I highly recommend it. With that in mind the price points here are definitely higher than what you might expect. Especially when you start to order drinks.

Happy hour 5-7pm for food and drinks. Tasty food. I recommend the chicken wings, pork belly buns and grilled shrimp skewers. The green papaya salad didn’t taste right.

District One is literally my favorite place to get Pho in Vegas. Servers are nice, pho is always piping hot and spot-on. I always get the oxtail pho. Because of the huge hunks of oxtail with meat literally falling off the bone. The cartilage and fat lend a super savory note to the pho. I enjoy mine with equal parts hoisin and sriracha, lime and lots and lots of mint.Appetizers are delicious as well. One can never go wrong with spring rolls and their egg rolls that you wrap in lettuce together with pickled veg and dunk in the Vietnamese vinegar dip that it comes with. Their oxtail fried rice once used to be a ginormous serving. So greasy, delicious and lots of oxtail meat! But several visits later, it’s gotten so much smaller. Not sure why. But my fave thing on the menu though, has to be the beef carpaccio. Okay, it’s *somewhat* raw. But once you’ve gotten past that fact of life, it has several wonderful dimensions of umami. Soy sauce, scallions, peanuts, shallots, TRUFFLE OIL. I promise you, your tastebuds will thank you till the end of time. Order this next time you’re here. You’re welcome.

We started off with an order of beef and lemongrass wrapped betel leaves that was not what I expected based on the description, but very good. We also shared an order of 5 spice Cornish hen that was just legs and thighs that I upgraded to include garlic noodles. In addition we had an order of garlic vegetables to ward off aliens.
