Right from the moment we stepped our feet into the dining room, the aura and vibe of luxury and posh started to embrace us into a majestic and marvelous dining hall inside one of the most iconic casino at The Strip. The showcase of classic and modern French culinary skills were displayed at each dish arrived at our table. The surprise began when the bread trolley came in, yes, a bread trolley. Definitely, not our usual bread service at a restaurant. Such a pleasure to see a range of French baguettes and pastries delivered right to our table to pick and enjoy before the full course started to kick in. What I loved most was the lobster tortellini with truffle. The pasta encasing the delicious little morsels inside was perfectly cooked. The lobster mousse inside exuded fresh seafood flavor which was nicely encapsulated by the earthy truffle sauce and shavings. Think about elegant surf and turf. The dessert that resembled a lemon was fun to eat. Once the outer lemon shell cracked, there was this delicate cream inside. Really pretty to see, fun to eat, and memorable to reminiscent. At the end, there was another trolley, yes, a trolley of little sweets and morsels to magically finish the already fairy tale dinner at the grand restaurant. Truly memorable experience.

If money is no object and you want to try some of the best food and wine that the planet has to offer then come to this restaurant. Don’t go into sticker shock when the bill comes because that is part of the experience. Keep in mind that this is what world class fine French dining is like.

The best restaurant we have ever been to. We went a while back but never got to the review. We loved the ambience and the amazing service. The food was an absolute delight with every course an unforgettable taste sensation. The plating is so beautiful you really don’t want to disturb it. But the flavor when you eventually do ….OMG. The wine was equally good. Be warned though this is by no means an average restaurant and the prices reflect that, especially when you are from South Africa with the terrible exchange rate. But do yourself a favor and give this a try it is worth every cent. There was not a single thing to fault about this restaurant. Sadly it leaves all other experiences wanting!

This review is meant to be comprehensive. Considering the cost associated with a meal here I wanted to give the full pros and cons for those choosing to go. This review will be in comparison to Daniels in New York City, only because it’s the only other 3 star Michelin in the US I have eaten in. Atmosphere The restaurant itself is incredible, with a small, secluded feeling dining area. The purple couches don’t quite match the rest of the room, but the garden wall is interesting. The night we ate here the bar outside on the MGM floor was having live music, which was quite audible from inside the dining area, so make sure to ask if they can confirm that there won’t be any music going on outside the dining area when making reservations. This alone ruined the atmosphere to a degree, as what should have felt like a separated dining experience was now just like being in an apartment with very noisy neighbours.ServiceThe service deteriorated over the course of the evening, but started out strong. We had ordered a bottle of wine, which was an excellent selection from the sommelier, but our waitress took our wine glasses away before we finished. Considering the expectations for quality in service for 3 Michelin star my wife and I were disappointed to say the least. By the 9-10p.m. Mark it was obvious that we were not going to see anymore of the attendees until we needed our bill.FoodMy wife had the 4 course meal while I tried the degustation menu based on reviews from previous posters. While I won’t describe each dish it was apparent that the focus was presentation and creativity above taste for most courses. The caviar and crab meat was a highlight, as was the fois gras and Parmesan first course. The low point was definitely the soft boiled egg on daikon foam (or other fairly neutral foam). In most cases the dishes were well prepared, but lacked any strong or unexpected flavours, so I did not feel that the taste experience was new or exciting. One thing to consider is that the tasting menu does not include the cheese cart (or at least didn’t when we went), so if you want to try this stick with the 6 course, you won’t be missing much. In general I much preferred the pre-theatre pre-fixe menu at Daniels, which was a quarter of the price…literally. The other disappointment was the lack of wine pairing option with the degustation menu, this seems like a huge miss in potential upsell for customers.SummaryComparing this to Daniels (as I mentioned at the top of this) I cannot see how this restaurant would fall into the 3 star range. While every thing was well above average, as you’d expect in a restaurant in this class, there were flaws in each aspect of the service. In the case of the loud music from the outside I would consider it a major flaw. While this was not the restaurant’s fault, it was their problem, and by not working with MGM to prevent this or move the live music to another venue it knocked this place down a notch in my opinion. I have not tried any of the other direct competitors in Vegas (La Cirque, Nobu, etc…), but given the value for money I would head to one of these first.

Luxury!. The full degustation is one life’s most luxurious experiences.

Disappointed. We came to Vegas on a foodie vacation and our dinner at Joel Robuchon was the experience we were most looking forward to. I think it the end it was our biggest disappointment. I thought the service and decor of the restaurant were excellent. It was a very comfortable and pleasant place to spend an evening. However we found the cuisine to be extravagant, but unimaginative. We ordered the 6 course menu and each got different things to try. I felt it was a series of dishes I had tried before elsewhere, but this time with truffle shavings and foie gras. Overall, if you are looking for a over the top, once in a lifetime, dining experience, this could fit the bill. Joel Robuchon offers some of the best service you will ever experience. But if you actually want to try new, exciting food you have never seen anywhere else, try another restaurant. The highlight of our foodie vacation was Nobu which offered us amazing food for 1/3 the price.
