Let me start by saying that I love Lawry’s and looked forward to going ever since my visit to the one in Beverly Hills last year. In fact, I selected it for my wife’s 60th birthday dinner. While the food was great everything else was just okay, which was disappointing on such a special occasion. We started by waiting for a table when the restaurant was clearly not full. Then we were put in the back room at an awkwardly placed table and when we asked for a booth in the main dining room we were given an attitude and waited again. Certainly not the five star service of Beverly Hills. The waiter was also not what you would expect in this caliber restaurant. Overall, given the other many amazing restaurants in Vegas, I would look elsewhere and probably not return to this one.

While I didnt dine at the original Lawry’s, I was able to go to the Las Vegas outlet while I was there for work and it was quite near the hotel I was staying at. The outside looked like a very plain building but once inside, its like being transported back to what I imagine Beverly Hills in the 50s would look like. Art Deco design lined the whole place and an almost empty restaurant (I went after the lunch rush) made it easy to admire everything from where I was sitting.I started with a prawn cocktail served in a cute silver pot. There were two lemon wedges, no frou frou shredded lettuce, and a very generous amount of cocktail sauce. The prawns were huge and I tried not to eat too fast (because bad habits die hard) so I could savor my appetizer. It was easy to not have to share this.I then got a soup of the day which happened to be cream of mushroom, my favorite! There wasnt even a toss up between soup or salad because soup trumps salad any day. I enjoyed the chunky mushrooms that dotted the soup and it had a thicker consistency that I like in my cream of mushroom. Cream of mushroom can be the soup of the say every single day! Also would not share.Waiting for my carved at the table prime rib, I checked out the condiments presented to me. Lawrys seasonsed salt, Lawrys seasoned pepper, a dollop of cream (or is it mustard?), and some horseradish. Spoiler Alert: The only thing I touched was a little bit of the horseradish and that was just for posteritys sake. Like two bites and Im good without it. Then Manuel, the chef came around and was ready to present the gloriousness to me. I was very excited.DAMN, THAT PRIME RIB WAS GOOD. Perfectly roasted, the meat was very tender and juicy. I tried to dip a bit of it in the mashed potato gravy but decided that it was better on its own. Even yummy when its kinda cold! My room didnt have a microwave but it worked out! This experience is to say I treated myself out to a nice lunch but I also ended up eating my leftovers for dinner. I wanna say that was fairly economical. Now I want to either go to the original Lawrys or hit up the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco again! You know, for market research 😛

If you like prime rib this is your joint but if you want any other kind of food they don’t have it. There entire menu is prime rib, prime rib, and more prime rib. They are also extremely overpriced and still trying to live in the 1950s. It’s 2015 and I’m from Seattle I know the market price of fish. Copper river salmon isn’t even 45$ so to serve snapper for 45$ is not acceptable. The salad was not fresh and I’m a salad snob, it also only comes with French dressing. It’s a beautiful eatery and the server seemed nice plus they are attentive but for a single small bite of prime rib is 40$ and a mans size serving is 90$ for ONE person. So for two girls who eat lightly 140$ is so not okay and will never be going back. That being said the food did taste good, I could tell the chefs know what they are doing but I’d rather go anywhere else and spend half the price for just as good a food.

Absolutely fantastic and incredibly delicious! Impeccable service and wonderful meals! I had the Prime Rib and my husband had the Ribeye. We both enjoyed our meals from the spinning salad to the sticky toffee pudding. A meal and an experience. Go and enjoy!

Outstanding prime rib!. Excellent restaurant, great food, definitely one of the high points of our visit. We were in Vegas for the NASCAR race on Sunday. Five of us, in typical NASCAR attire. Upon entering the restaurant and looking around, we realized we were WAY underdressed. They were very kind, treated us like millionaires, and made our experience very pleasant. Have been to Vegas many times, there are lots of outstanding restaurants. Lawry’s definiitely belongs in this category. For prime rib, this is the best!

  • Food For Thought...

Prime rib prepared perfectly at your table on a pristine, stainless steel cart; Perfect food; Perfect service; Perfect evening! Pricey and worth it! Excellent menu variety! A nice get-away from the Vegas strip to relax! Enjoy!
