What can be said? I was exc…. What can be said?I was excited to see the gorgeous renos and the new lobby lounge at Four Seasons Las Vegas. I wasn’t expecting staring, noisy drunks in the lobby of Four Seasons at night or the ever present coffee/sandwich smell during the day. I was definitely not expecting tiny, uncomfortable tables literally five feet from the hotel check in.Gone is the lovely flower display in the front entry-it has been replaced by a tall, depressingly dark glass and metal sculpture. Gone is the relaxed, cosy, elegant, quiet lobby. Every single (wonderful!) staff member I spoke with about about the changes admitted that they were disappointed too, but because nothing can be done, they’re pretty much resigned to it. Despite tons of PR to get people in, it spends its day mostly empty, especially the inside section. How to describe outside? Well its unshaded during the heat of the day, full of stylishly uncomfortable patio furniture, and served by girls in very short black dresses while loud annoying piped in mall music plays. One particular afternoon most of outside area was taken over by a large table of screaming loud, drunken Vegas society ladies. Quite frankly, they were being fawned over while disturbing everyone at both the Verandah and those at the pool area. ( I sound like an old curmudgeon I know-but really I’m quite the opposite!!) Yes, the PRESS coffee bar is handy to grab a takeout coffee. Yes, it’s got a nice staff. Yes, it serves drinks ( made next door at the Verandah by the awesome Verandah bar guys ) But no, it should not be taking over the lobby!Oh and the best part-they are now going to change Vegas’s beloved Verandah into a restaurant version of PRESS. Uncomfortable patio furniture for everyone! Yay!
