The ramen noodles were good but could have been better. Broth was mild which suited me fine but the spicy one wasn’t actually spicy at all. Portions are HUGE! Was not a fan of the shredded beef but the egg, noodles and vegetables were tasty. The beef curry was strange – it tasted more like a stew and the beef was strangely sweet. Sweet lady at the till helped us out. Food arrived super quickly and they brought it right to our table outside.
Was sorely disappointed by this place, considering it’s from the same group of a Michelin starred San Francisco ramen shop, as they like to brag about. The price wasn’t worth the taste. I come from Vancouver, where probably any of our ramen places would be better tasting and better value than here. They put their gyozas and karagge into the soup itself when you order the Yokozuna, causing them to be soggy! Also, it’s tasted like just a boiled egg, not a traditional Japanese marinated one…Would recommend you go elsewhere for your ramen needs.
Dropped in for a quick bowl of ramen on the way back to our hotel. We order shoyu and miso ramen. They do not serve the traditional Japanese ramen noodles and the shoyu and miso broths were very different from what I’m accustom to. I do enjoy a GREAT bowl of ramen being from Vancouver, BC where ramen is the ‘thing’. In fact, I travelled to Japan last summer seek out the best ramen. Back to my review, the noodles and soup combinations were acceptable and very tasty but not authentic Japanese ramen. In fact the egg noodles used has the same taste and texture as Chinese egg noodles used in wonton soup. I found the miso broth a bit on the salty side. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Please do keep in mind, my review is objectively based on my palate and food experiences.
Came here a few days ago to try their warm bowls of ramen. The place was busy but we were lucky to be seated at an available table. The food was ordered & came out quickly. Tried the shoyu ramen which had the gyoza, karage & pork. The soup base was a little too light in flavour for my liking. We also tried the tonkatsu ramen with beef. The soup base is totally different to the ones I have tried, it isn’t thick with a pork flavour. The flavour is slightly more overpowering than the shoyu & it kind of grows on you the more you have of it. Overall, not the same type of ramen flavours I am used to, it isn’t bad but it isn’t outstanding either.
