Really?. They don’t even give you rice with your food. You’d easily spend $20+ and end up still hungry after eating here. They charge an additional $2 for rice. That’s crazy! Will never eat here again.
Great atmosphere hidden away with great food.
Thai-M for Change. Cafe de Thai’s modern atmosphere left this food critic cold. First impression: busy place, loud and drafty, plates of pad thai waiting to be served to a large party in the back sitting for an indeterminate amount of time like plastic sushi in a San Francisco restaurant window. We ordered the Mushroom Wontons, Thai Beef Salad, and a special, flat noodles with Chicken and Shrimp served with brocolini. The food looked like it all been dished up from a Thai buffet! Nothing was served steaming hot and the noodles were thick and fat, stuck together like they had been sitting too long. Service was a bit slow, due in part to the large party in the back room. Wontons were greasy, served with even greasier fried basil. Every dish fell short of the fresh beauty that Thai inspires in the palate. Not a place I would recommend.
Fresh and Modern Thai. I love this place. Cool and modern with nice lighting. Everything is made fresh, so I can order any Thai dish in a vegetarian version. And they serve great coffee, cocktails and desserts.
Bad, pricey food. So if atmosphere is all you want, go for it, you’ll pay dearly. The food is flavorless and costly, never goin’ back.
Worst coconut soup ever.. The soup was tasteless. It was watery broth with 5 pieces of chicken. It had no straw mushrooms, onion, lemongrass…very disappointing, especially for the price.
Cafe De Yummy. 4 Stars – Cafe de Thai is located in suburban South Reno. The building is an ultra-modern piece of architecture. It does not look like a restaurant at all. More like an art museum. And it is an art musuem of sorts, highlighting art and artifacts of Thailand. The contemporary modern continues on the inside too with the interior design and furnishings. The place just looks cool. And the menu is chock full of great appetizers and entrees. I have only eaten here for business lunches, but I have been vowing to take my wife back for dinner. The menu, food quality and presenation is quite upscale. Most other Thai restaurants in Reno are barely one step above fast food.I have never been to Thailand before, but I believe their food is quite authentic. But I can tell you this, it is tasty. This is probably the best Asian restaurant in the Northern Nevada region. I defintely will return when in the mmod for an upscale Thai dining experience.
