Have taken out and dined in. Dining in – was served raw chicken. Take out has a hair in the lunch special. Don’t expect great service. Asked for extra water chestnut in the meal. I think there might have been 2.They used to be SO much better.
We ate there this evening. Had the Dim Sum sampler, fried calamari and Chicken with Bok Choy. The guy who served us was polite, well spoken, helpful and friendly. I think it was because they got busy right when we got there but service was a bit slow. Sadly the Dim Sum was not very good, we’re used to San Francisco though for Dim Sum. Calamari was not great either, a little chewy and over cooked but at the same time not crispy, too oily as well. Hotter oil in the fryer would have really changed the outcome of the calamari. Lastly, the chicken and Bok Choy which we ordered with light oil came with 2-3 tablespoons of oil on it. This was another shame and a waist as the ingredients were very nice but ruined with unnecessary excess oil. Our waiter started to throw out excuses about why things were the was they were but ultimately just apologized and offered to refund us on those items (we didn’t eat them so I thought that was fair) Really too bad, it seems that all the Chinese restaurants in Reno have gone downhill lately.
Best Dim Sum in Reno
Not a fan. Service was pretty bad and the dim sum wasn’t as impressive as I had expected. The only item I liked on the all you can eat dim sum was the custard bun… Everything else pretty sad tasting.
OMG !! Wor Wonton FTW !. The *BEST* wonton soup I’ve evar had. EVAR !Freshest ingredients. You can see, smell and taste the effort put into it and even though the price is a little more than an entree, it’s one in itself and will be going for more, often, especially in these colder months.
Consistently Excellent. I live in South Meadows and have dined at CaiE’s Oriental Cafe at least a dozen times and their Dim Sum and regular menu are consistently excellent. The Dim Sum menu, which is now offered seven days a week, available all day, provides great Shu Mai, Potstickers, Har Gow (my personal favorite) and yes — they have great Chicken Feet! If you have never tried them, live on the wild side for but a moment and you won’t be disappointed. $13.95 all you can eat is an amazing deal.On the regular menu, the General’s Chicken is quite possibly one of the best I have ever had. Incredibly tender, perfect flavor and just enough heat. Bravo! The Pad Thai (CaiE, the owner, is Thai, I believe) and Chow Fun are awesome as well. For the novice fan, the Chow Mein is excellent and the portions are very pleasing. All in all, great food, great portions and great quality. Service is okay, yet I will concentrate on the positives in this review. Thanks again CaiE!
