SHANGHAIED THEN VERY DISAPPOINTED. My wife and I and a group of friends made a dinner reservation at the Grand Sierra to dine before attending a sold out concert. Reservation was made 2 days ahead. We arrived at the Briscola restaurant on time at 6 PM. We were then told that the restaurant was closed and they shuffled us over to the Grand Sierras high dollar restaurant, Charlie Palmers Steakhouse. We advised the hostess that we had tickets to the 8 PM show. In the next 10 minutes we were greeted by 3 waiters, had our drink orders taken and served. We ordered our meals and waited an hour for our salads, which were served without salad forks. At 7:15 PM, our entree items were no where in sight and we asked for our waiter. Fifteen minutes later with no waiter and still no food, we asked to speak to the manager. After waiting another15 minutes, we prepared to leave. On leaving the restaurant we spoke to the manager, John. He was very apologetic for the poor service, but offered no reason for the delay. We are Reno residents who dine out frequently and will never again return to this property to dine. There are many excellent casino restaurants in Reno. Charlie Palmers Steakhouse is not one!
Iffy Service / Great Food. 1st – make sure you ask – there is a separate vegetarian menu available (I had the gnocchi & it was amazing!!!). I also had a side order of mushrooms – which was plenty for 2 people and very flavorful! 2nd – the decor is very unique and swank. There are numerous seating options on intimate sofas – plush chairs. 3rd – the service was just average (which is sad since this is suppose to be a very upscale restaurant). I had to get up 2 times to go to the bar area and get a refill on my water. The 2 waitresses were preoccupied flirting with a gentleman customer or playing/learning how to use the ordering computer at the end of the bar area. 4th – since the restaurant is located in a casino there is an overwhelming smoke smell …. I would like them to install fans or extractors to make dinner a more enjoyable time. Sunday August 25th
Our experience was unpleasant. My husband and son had nice steaks perfectly prepared and the appetizers were wonderful. However I ordered the braided short ribs on mushroom risotto and it was terrible. The risotto was cold and crunchy. The short rib was greasy and also cold. I couldn’t eat it. The wait staff actually told us that the risotto earlier in the evening was perfect which has nothing to do with my meal as risotto should be made to order. They offered me a new risotto which I refused and was not offered another dish or an adjustment on our check. I came away from our nice dinner feeling that we were not appreciated or respected and I won’t be back.
Consistently good. After having been here twice, I can say that it is consistently good. The staff is friendly enough and does a good job of taking care of you. The food, is great, particularly the bacon wrapped dates, and they were even able to throw together a grilled marrow bone and foie gras appetizer, which was incredibly good and arguably the most decadent appetizer I’ve ever seen.
Amazing service, delicious food. the prices are steep but you def get your money’s worth!
The Kobe sliders are the best, I also love the beef skewers and the super fresh oysters…sit st the bar!!!
