Went there for dinner last night. Had reservations for 8:30. Even though there were plenty of open tables we sat at bar until 8:40. I ordered salmon and it was so under-cooked it made me nervous to even touch it. I showed it to our waitress after waiting 10 minutes for here to emerge from the back room. She took it back to the kitchen and they threw it back in the pan. To my surprise they put it back on the same plate. Isnt it unsafe to put cooked food on the same surfaces that uncooked food has made contact with? They never apologized or even acknowledged that I didn’t touch the food after it was returned. We had 2 samon dinners, calamari, a salad and some drinks from the bar and our bill was $198. I was astonished. $200 for meal that in my view wasn’t fit to eat safely. The service was very slow as well. We were seated at 8:45 and didn’t walk out until almost 10:30. I’ve heard such great things about this place. I guess the owners are starting to believe they’re great instead of proving it. There is no excuse for a patron to not get a visit from the manager when a meal has to be sent back to the kitchen. Not at this price point.
Great Place for Special Times!. I have read many of the reviews for this restaurant, ranging from mostly really good (a good thing) along with some not so good experiences, including bad or snotty service. I was looking for a good place to go for my BF’s birthday, so we decided on this place. I knew ahead of time this wasn’t gonna be cheap! but hey, I had a good month and he pays most of the time so it s good. I was paying for 3 since my sister was coming too. I got to thinking, if its really true that at these upscale restaurants, do you get better or worse service, depending on how you dress and act, and thus how wealthy they think you are and will tip accordingly. I have definitely been to some places where if you show up with a 2 for 1 offer or some discount, the service will suck, since they think they won’t get a big tip. So I decided, lets see and dress up, BF put on his good clothes (he does have some) and me an sis get all hotted up lookin, even hung some bling on…not really my style..the bling. BF is really lovin the 2X blond thing….hee hee. So we walk in 7:00pm or so. Greeter eyes us up and down and we are seated right away. The service from then on was super perfect. It probably helped that we ordered a ton of wine, multiple apps, entrees and dessert. This reminded me of one of my company dinners, except I was the one paying! Its cool, its a birthday. BF said, no mentioning birthdays…so I didn’t. I had duck that was done perfectly, BF had the fillet mignon and sis had scallops. The service paces out the courses perfectly, not feeling rushed at all. We were there like 2 hrs. When the check came, the server seemed surprised when I said I’ll take that. I’m not even gonna say what the bill was…but it WAS obscene….but it was fun to play Hollywood for a night. I do recommend LuLou’s, just bring lots of money, its not worth it if you go and get 1 entree each, water and no dessert.
Over priced. $30 for a cock feeIts unusual that a find dining place in Reno only has 4 reviews. the food is very good, but parking and service are not
Hands down the most innovative and delicious food I’ve eaten in Reno well worth the highish prices. Cool atmosphere and decor too, great date spot!
Excellent food. Probably the best restaurant in Reno depending on the type of food you’re looking for. The crabcakes or lobster escargot are great starts. The thai chicken soup is spicy and flavorful. For an entree, the ribeye, scallops, halibut, and veal all make for good choices. The desert menu is unfortunately lacking a little, but this is a great meal.
Great special place!. LuLou’s is pricey but very much worth it. We’ve never had a meal there that wasn’t excellent. After having their calamari appetizer the calamari at all other restaurants is just blah. This is the place we go for special occasions.
Recommended. Wife and I have eaten at Lulou’s only once and it was a very good, not great meal. That being said, most friends rave about it, and it’s on our list to visit again. Lulou’s would rank up with 4th Street as one of Reno’s premier establishments.
