I always feel uneasy with alow rating for seemingly highly regarded restaurant, but unfortunately, our experience was simply subpar. We stopped by for lunch. There wereanumber of empty tables, but the Chef asked us to sit down and wait. While we were waiting, Chef explainedto us that he is only using the very best lamb from New Zealand, and he also mentioned that the dish with that lamb would be only $12.50.We finally got the table and placed an order. While we were ordering, we asked about the lamb, and our server tried very hard to upsell us to a rack of lamb or lamb kabob, both a lot more expensive than $12.50. We finally were able to figure that the $12.50 lamb was a lamb gyro, which we ordered. We started with a sampler of traditional Mediterranean appetizers, such as falafel, hummus and so on. I have to honestly say that I had better falafel and better hummus, but this is fine. My next dish was lentil soup, which was practically inedible – primarily ingredients were tomato and oil, and it had a definite canned soup taste. Then our server came back to ask what we ordered – so we had to confirm that we ordered lamb gyro. Finally, after a long wait, gyro arrived, and whatever the meat was inside, it was no lamb – it was some mystery sausage. It was edible, but again, the overall experience was simply subpar. You can try it, maybe you will get lucky and experience what the others are talking about. talk-a-vino.com
**BEWARE !!**He is a SCAMMER. My family and I had a trip to RENO and this was a restaurant that showed as HALAL. But when we started ordering, Chef Maurice came to us (Looks can be deceptive at times) and started to force us to order more entrees and appetizers etc instead of letting us order based on our appetite. Later while in the argument, it came out of his mouth that he was the owner of the restaurant. He claims every dish there is world’s best (blah blah..). Then I asked him why are you forcing us to order more where as we have the option to choose what we want. he says, it is the rule of law at the restaurant. Believe me, first family dish he was forcing us to order was $72 or so and very expensive. Later, he threatened us that he will call police and I boldly asked him to do so. He flipped his phone and pretended to call police and I waited until he asked us to leave. I have another doubt in my mind.. He is scamming MUSLIMS by saying HALAL and wanted to rip them off. That could be a good possibility. Alcohol and wine are widely served.
Amazingly flavorful and beautiful food. My husband and I brought his mother for an early Mother’s day meal. The food was scrumptious. So many flavorful dishes. I must say that we tried several appetizers, entres and the Baklava a la mode for dessert .We left feeling happy 🙂 The Chef,Maurice was very personable.I loved that he came over to our table and chatted with us for a few minutes. Very lovey evening. Definitely going back.
The Lamb gyro Kabab was really tasty. The Dolmades were excellent. The service was very good. Only have a few days in town, but will be back.
My favorite place!19 Jul, 2014The food is amazing! Fresh, tasty, yum yum yum!
Don’t judge a book by its cover. I’ve been to Naan and Kabob twice. Once very recently and the first time about 5 years ago. The food is just as good as I remember it. We had great service then and now. We ordered the Mashabi Special. This dish is probably meant to feed 3 – 4 but there was only 2 of us. Good thing because the food was so tasty that there wouldn’t have been enough for 4. The left overs were even better . . . the juices settled in . . . yummy. The building looks like an old diner from the 60’s but don’t let that deter you from going in. The inside is warm and inviting. Chef Maurice even came out to greet his customers.
Outstanding customer service and phenomenal menu. Very authentic Greek / Mediterranean food. The chef is outstanding- best rack of lamb I’ve ever had!!
