T’was a beautiful evening and I was looking for dinner. Found an amazing place down by the river! The wild river grille has not only the ambiance but the great food and great service that you should expect from a classy restaurant. I will most definitely be back!
While on a recent visit to Reno, we found this charming restaurant. Originally, we chose the River Wild Grille because they were advertised as having a dog friendly patio. We made reservations for dinner for our anniversary, and we were very glad we did. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, and seated promptly at a nice patio table. The food was excellent, prepared very well and presented nicely. The friendly wait-staff even brought a dog cookie for each of our dogs. We never felt as if the dogs were an imposition to the staff, and felt the dogs were as welcome as we were. The food was not only prepared by skilled chefs, but the portions were very generous as well. Our server was friendly and helpful, explaining the menu and the specials. The steak was cook as ordered, the mussels tender and flavorful and the crme Brule was outstanding. We will be back the next time we are in Reno.
Food Lacking & Overpriced. The ambiance of Wild River Grille is lovely inside and we love the patio outside. The food is just dissapointing. The mushroom ravioli was ok but not great. The short ribs, while tender, lacked the intense flavor you would expect with a reduction sauce. Seasoning or length of sauce deveopment are missing in their dishes and at $20+ entree dishes we expect much better. They need to step up their game in the kitchen to be worthy of the crowds jockeying to sit on the patio.
Romantic and Delicious Dinner Spot. First of all I want to add that the atmosphere and location of this restaurant is one of my favorites in Reno. You cannot beat sitting on the patio in the summer beside the river and on the weekends listening to live music. In the Fall and winter months it is just as nice inside with an intimate and romantic atmosphere. This place is great for a date night or for a business meeting. The only thing that has me give it a 4 instead of a 5 is the fact that the food (while very good) never blows me away. We went the other night for a light dinner and I ordered French-onion soup and the Wild River salad and it was very good but it lacked something. The soup was very dark not sure if it had been cooked too long but just did not have the flavor it should and the cheese just didn’t mesh as it should…I really wanted it to.My husband had the scallops and he said they were very very good, but just a little small and needed just a touch more flavor. We do love this place and go there often and their food is very very good, so please make sure you visit…i just do not think they are a 5 star compared with the prices….YET!Service is always friendly and helpful as I said we go often and have never had a bad experience. Hope this helps…enjoy!
Good food, but overpriced. We had lunch here and the atmosphere was really nice, the food was tasty, but simple and overpriced. Perhaps they pull out some more creativity for their dinner menu and part of the high price comes from the location next to the river.
Whoa!. Mahi Mahi Tacos with candied ginger, roasted tomato and red pepper salsa, honey lime vinaigrette in a sundried tomato tortilla were amazing and I usually don’t eat fish but these tacos were delicious.
The soup that changed my life. I had the soup of the day which was a delicious tomato bisque. It was the best tomato soup I have had at a restaurant. It was warm and hearty, topped with a small amount of tangy goat cheese and drizzled with a balsamic vinegar reduction. The combination of the goat cheese, vinegar and thick tomato bisque was to die for. I will definitely return to this restaurant. The service was wonderful and the rest of the menu seemed delightful as well.
