Irie. My jerk chicken was good. Rice and festival good too. Hardo bread and bulla fresh. Chicken patty was flaky and filling was moist and spicy. Restaurant has island feel minus music. Ting, Guinness and Babba roots along with other cold drinks on sale too. No dragon stout tho. 🙁 Smiling lady behind the counter nice. Everything very nice. I am part Jamaican and this food is comparable to back on the island. Everyone know tho nobody can cook like ‘ mi granny. ‘ 🙂
I am a native New Yorker who’s familiar w Authentic Jamaican food. I went to this place word of mouth. The establishment is a bit unkept but at the same time gives me the feel of a real Jamaican restaurant. My order was your traditional oxtail w rice and peas. All and all the dish was good. Oxtail a were a bit over cooked, flavoring wasn’t strong enough but I’d try it again a different dish tho.
BIG disappointment!!! STALE FOOD SERVED AT TASTY ISLAND. The woman served me stale watered-down red peas soup and I had to run out of the restaurant as fast as I can. This happened on June 6,2014. I waited 20 minuted then she served me watered-down overnight red peas soup. I took one taste and wonder what I was eating and had to run out of the restaurant. VERY UNSCRUPULOUS WOMAN! You should never served stale food. Do not east at this place and I can assure you that you will never be a repeat customer at TASTY ISLAND in Las Vegas.
I am Addicted to their Beef Patties! & the jerk chicken, rice and plantains are delicious!
Bad Service. Very dissatisfied with my last visit there. i went to a Sunday buffet and the food was cold. Then I ordered a beverage called Sorrel. My family is from the islands and when my mother made the drink there is no alcohol. So i ordered it off there menu, there was no indication on the menu that alcohol was in the beverage. Not until I heard them mention it to another customer did i realize it. I brought it to their attention and they did nothing , and did not apologize, nor did they even offer to give me another beverage in its place. They just said that they way they make it i Jamaica. If you are going to serve a beverage with alcohol in it you need to let people know what if I would have had some serious allergic reaction to it. Needless to say I will never go there again
Well the food is just edible. As a JamaIcan I know how our food should taste and I have to say that the food lacks flavor. The people behind the counter are not the friendliest. The. restaurant is relatively clean however. I would give this place two and a half stars. I have had better.
Very disappointed. I picked this restaurant because of its location. I was immediately skeptical when I walked in. The place doesn’t look like they really care about their appearance. And the lady behind the counter seem like I was putting her out by asking for service. Very rude to conduct business that way if you asked me. The food was very pricey and taste only okay. And when they messed my order up, they gave me an attitude like, oh well your problem not mine. I will never eat here again. And I urge you to do the same.
