Absolutely Wonderful!. Athens is the next best thing to having a Greek grandmother living upstairs to tempt you with heaping plates of goodness, like hugs on a plate! We have been enjoying their fare for over 25 years and have always been delighted. It is not possible to overstate how strongly we disagree with the negative review previously posted! This restaurant is family-owned and run, including many of the wait-staff; regulars are treated like old friends and new customers like friends-to-be. A good clue to any ethnic restaurant for us is how many of the patrons are speaking the language, and you’ll hear plenty of Greek at Athens. We go for traditional comfort foods, so we’ve had the stuffed grape leaves, lemon soup, lamb kabobs, baked lamb, stuffed peppers, just to name a few, and we have enjoyed all of them many times. Bring your best appetite, and don’t go alone – order different things and share them with a dinner partner; the portions are large.
Disgusting. I know why Socrates drank the Hemlock: He was told that he was going to have to eat food from the Athens restaurant for the rest of his life. He made the only logical choice.First, let me state for the record that when the waitress at a Greek restaurant does not know what Souvlaki is, you’re in trouble. Add to this the ability of the chef to ruin that most simple of dishes–fried pork chop–and you’ve really got a disaster. What we found most amusing–and most disgusting was that they poured what seemed to be Campbell’s vegetable soup on top of the potatoes and called that a traditional Greek dish. The food here was so bad that we couldn’t even get halfway through the meal. A complete, shameful, repulsive disaster of a meal.
