Delicious meal. I usually don’t write reviews but happened upon the one written by Chester on a visit on March 21, 2012. My wife and I dined at Fornelletto the next night, March 22, 2012. I write because I wonder whether Chester and his wife dined at the same restaurant! The dining experiene was exceptional. We began with the mushroom crositini appetizer which was out of sight delicious and a very nice portion for us to share. This was followed by bulalo mozzarell with a tomato type relish. The portion was also a very nice size. The cheese was wonderfully light and delicious. The chopped salad was enough for two to share. Our waiter was a delight with attentive service and he had a very good humor providing us and the neighboring tables with good laughs. I had the chicken parm as my main course; two very large pieces which were well-seasoned, lightly breaded and fried and very good. My wife had the osso bucco ravioli (which sort of sounds like the dish Chester’s wife might have had). True the ravioli had a small round mound of osso bucco in the center. The portion was nice sized with about 10-12 pieces. It was wonderful. Dessert followed with chocolate mousse — to die for. All in all, if we ever return to Borgata, we would seek out this place. The food was excellent, the portions nice sized and service very good.
So bad it was funny…. Short and simple: This restaurant is bad!!! The bread was ice cold (as if it had just come out of the freezer), and rock hard. We asked the waiter about it and the response was that it was the chef’s style. The meals were remarkably small portioned. I ordered spaghetti with filet meatballs, and when it came out after about a 20-30 minute wait (it was not busy), my wife started laughing. It is worth ordering just for the laugh. The pasta was wrapped into a tight half-ball (like it was scooped out with an ice cream scoop) about 2 inches in diameter, and there were four small meatballs on each side. I ate the entire meal (meatballs and all) in about eight bites, and I couldn’t even fill myself up with the bread because I couldn’t bite into it.On the positive side, my wife and I laughed about this experience for days. Fortunately we were eating there with comps, or I would have never been willing to pay almost $30 for that ice cream scoop of pasta and rock hard frozen bread.
Your kidding. This place is a joke.
Unremarkable for the price. Had dinner there with 3 friends. Sat at the communal table, which was fun. Waiter was kind of rude. Ordered cheese plate which was good, some salami and Chicken parm. It was almost warm, and the breading was mushy. Kind of like what you would get in a frozen meal. Did I mention it cost $26? Can’t recommend it.
Amazing Italian Restaurant. I was completely blown away by my experience at this restaurant. Not only was the food superb (especially all of the house-made cheeses) but the service was some of the best I’ve experienced in a very long time (thanks to Guiseppe!). The wine list is killer, with a whole page devoted to Gaja selections alone, and very reasonably priced with other hidden gems throughout the list. It’s not cheap, but again, definitely worth the experience of dining at a place that just gets it all right. Just hit the tables first and try to win big before you go to pay for it! 😉
Food is good. Service is very personal and friendly. Atmosphere is fantastic set up in a wine cellar. Very cool. Only drawback; noisy.
While the restaurant was pricey, it was money well spent. The service was awesome, I loved the atmosphere and the food was outstanding. I would absolutely go back and will recommend it to my friends.
