Was Thinking of Returning. Well, haven’t been to the Rock’n Chair in quite some time. As I remember it, it was a really cool place to go to listen to jazz. Food was good, simple comfort food and priced appropriately. Atmosphere was perfect for a jazzy sort of place and we loved it. But after seeing the changes made to the restaurant – all that light! – and reading the menu as well as the reviews, I won’t be returning to the Rock’n Chair. How terribly disappointing – you had a good thing, why would you become just another cookie cutter restaurant without any character? I realize the name of the game is money, but really, you need to go back to the way you were.

I had the scallops and they were perfect. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The steak that one if us ordered did not have a lot of flavor. The soup was excellent (French onion) I would definitely eat here again.

OK AT BEST. We sat at the bar and started with the buffalo wings. They were some of the biggest wings that I have ever had. They were the fried type and the sauce had the right degree of heat. It was downhill from there. Based on the bartender’s recommendation, we each had the french onion soup. The broth was greasy and had a two inch slice of french bread floating in it. The melted cheese on top was thin and did not fully cover the crock. Next, we shared the quesadillas. They were disappointing. They contained very little chicken filling and did not have much flavor. They were some of the worst quesadillas I have ever had. This restaurant used to be good. What happened?

New Chef, Terrible Food.. They got a new chef for the 2011 summer. Did they hit wrong. Food used to be so good here… we would go at least twice a week on vacation. Now, not so much. Ordered the gazpacho with soft shell crabs and it was terrible. The crabs were great, the soup was hideous. It tasted like I was eating straight salsa. No soupy consistency or liquid. Just chopped tomatoes and the other flavorings. Boyfriend got the cams, and they were good as usual. Glad to see they didn’t change those. Now, entrees. My boyfriend’s lobster and crab raviolis were good, mine was pathetic. I ordered the large bouillabaisse and I feel like I was ripped off. It had six muscles, six clams, VERY, VERY overcooked shrimp and fish, and the bottom was filled with carrots from the frozen section. The broth was just as bad. Our waitress was really on the creepy side. She kept saying how much I’m going to love how big it is. If only it lived up to that expectation. The only reason why we will go here again is for the root beer. Seriously. They must put something in it, because it’s awesome. Get back the old chef, bring back the old menu, and restaurants should learn never to change something if it’s not broken.

Not a very kid friendly reastaraunt. No free refills on soft drinks and milk (a must with youg children). Food was just ok. Staff was the only good part of the experience.
