Lacking. Service is good but…Food is disappointing, considering how it seems to be home-cooked traditional Thai. It’s walkable distance to where I live. First time i went there, i ordered pad see-ew, which was overly sweet. I went there a 2nd time to give it another shot and ordered pad thai and it was overly sweet again. This place just puts too much sugar and msg in its food because that’s what the food tastes like, a cheap take-out place. I’ve been to many Thai restaurants in and out of Bloomfield, but the other ones in Bloomfield are still better. However, I do like their Thai tea and Thai green tea.
Food is just ok, though I admit I am no expert on Thai. My biggest complaint is that they are inconsistent. I won’t order from them again because the last time I did it took 90 minutes to get to my house and I live just up the street. When the delivery guy got came, he walked into my house. I never heard the door bell ring.
SUGARY. Take it from a Thai national – Thai food is not supposed to be ultra sweet. If that were the case then we should be famous for our savory desserts.- NOT a place I will return to.
Boonsong Thai. Went last night with a few friends. We usually go to Brookside Thai, which we love, but thought we would try something new. It was a mistake. First, parking is difficult, second, there is no vestibule so it was freezing in the restaurant everytime the dooe opened, third the portions were really small, and finally and most important – the food is not very good.Appetizers were decent but the entrees (even Pad Thai) were all very bland and boring. I don’t recommend this place – if you want Thai go to Brookside Thai!
AWESOME. I just had lunch at Boonsong Thai. I have a thing for Tom Yum soup, and Thai food in general. Theirs was exceptional. Everything was fresh. No chili sauce. Fresh chilis!! I tried about five appetizers. One I wasnt in love with, but I think that was more about the flavors I enjoy more then the actual preparation, even for one I didn’t like the preparation was spot on. When I think about food its about the whole experience. The food, the service, the decor. This restaurant made me feel comfortable in all these areas. I have eaten at every Thai restaurant in Montclair and a few in surrounding areas. I recommend trying it for yourself. The desserts were awesome!!! You will be missing some wonderful Thai food if you pass over this restaurant.
Great From Start to Finish. Two of us ate dinner at this restaurant May 14th. We had shrimp mee grob, Tom Um soup for appetizers and it was both tasty and well -presented. The Gang Pa was beautiful to look at and at Medium, well spiced. Dessert was sticky rice and mango which was some of the best I’ve eaten. It was consistent and the service was warm and helpful as well as timely. Highly recommended.
We were greeted warmly and served delicious and beautifully presented meals. This is a great Thai restaurant. Give them a try!
