Very disappointed. Went there for a rare night out, away from our small children, while on vacation. Menu was slightly better than very plain and average bar food. Okay, so it’s a bar. I get that. But, even bars can have a decent menu. Settled on our food and ordered drinks. My husband ordered a beer. Easy. I got a mojito. Hands down the worst mojito I had ever had, maybe the worst mixed drink. It basically tasted like slightly flavored simple syrup. I sent it back to be remade, because if you are paying 12 bucks for a drink, it should be GOOD! I asked for more liquor, mint and lime and it came back tasting like a mojito. Imagine that! Our app was great- grilled shrimp. My grilled fish tacos were good too. The side of sweet potato fries were definitely frozen and fried. No flavor and no dipping sauce other than ketchup. Had to request honey mustard and it helped a bit. Our waiter seemed to be missing the entire night. When it was time to go, we ordered dessert to go- key lime pie. It took the waiter 20 minutes, literally to get it out to us. He kept saying that they weren’t finished with it. It’s Key Lime Pie! All you have to do is slice it. I’m sure they weren’t baking it on the spot, to order. Too many good places to try in CM without returning to okay food, bad service and watered down, pricy drinks.

Good food. We started with the crab Dip that the waitress Robin recommended. It was very good. The dip was served in a bread bowl which was also tasty. The chips were a little stale but the dip was full of crab. I had the flank steak burrito which was a little blan but with the addition of some hot sauce it was good. My wife ate 2 of her fish tacos and I had the other. The tacos were delicious!! The fish was fried and crispy but not oily or greesy tasting. The flavors were spot on Service was great, Robin was friendly and attentive.
Worst. Went here with a group of friends on a Saturday night, place was not very busy for a Saturday. We were looking for a place with live music and open late. When we got there we took our sits and after waiting 30 mins for the waitress we decided to get our own drinks; thats when our waitress decided to show. We ordered our drinks with her and waited 15 mins to get them. Tried ordering a second round and still played the waiting game with her. That’s when we decided to pay our bill and just leave.
My friends and I had a horrible experience with management last Thursday night at Cabanas. Management lacked professionalism. We experienced poor customer service. I would not recommend the bar or restaurant. I don’t usually eat there but have heard and read many bad reviews of the food. Cape May has plenty of other bar that provide warm hospitality, friendly customer service and good night out.
Great food, fun atmosphere. The crab an artichoke dip is great truely loaded with great tasting crab (and I am picky about crab). I had the ahi tuna sanwhich and loved it. They had no problem cooking it to a higher temperature the way I like it and it had great fresh veggies and a tasty sauce that was also great on the fries. The fries were the tasty thin kind and our waiter was very nice and attentive even though the place was crowded. Don’t let the bar look intimidate you either we saw older people, young people and kids all enouing themselves. Also they had the best cosmos with just the right splash of cranberry, yum! The prices were reasonable considering the area and worth it either way.
One of my favorite destinations in Cape May. Location is great, atmosphere is fun, and food is solid. The last two times there I had the jerked chicken salad. Not too heavy, but had a lot of flavor. Lots of beers on tap, and has live entertainment. Usually go right from the beach to there still in my bathing suit. Only downside was kids night but it is only for a few hours. Great for kids and families I’m sure, but I didn’t like listening to the Lion King Soundtrack while I was staring at the ocean and slamming back beers.
