Not sure how to rate this place. It’s hard to order, since most dishes have many things going on. It is good, but, if they stripped it down a bit, it could be better. It’s the culinary equivalent of a mauve bed and breakfast.
THE Best!. We’ve been coming to Freda’s every summer vacation for over 10 years. Actually, we usually eat at Freda’s twice in our annual 1-week stay. The food is just fabulous. When our kids were young, it was also the only place we found that served truly delicious gourmet food for the adults, but it was not beneath them to have a children’s menu (that included burgers and fries, but also a petite filet). Now that the kids are into their teens and for years have been ordering from the main menu, it is still our very favorite restaurant in Cape May.
We stayed in Cape May for three days. It was by far the best place we dined. The fish of the day was excellent!!
April 2013, had the Black Angus NY Strip, Mussels, spring rolls, everything great, Susan, was wonderful.
Fantastic food. They really know their way around a crab. Their decor and atmosphere is much better than the photo posted on ‘spoon
Great spot. We stopped in for lunch – everyone raves about this place so we thought we’d try it. It was quiet being the off season (and a Monday) so we mostly had the place to ourselves, but a steady stream of people marched through the door making reservations for dinner. The food was great – the Angus burger juicy and tender, just perfect. Later that evening as we walked home from another restaurant we passed a bunch of people were waiting for their tables – so yes the food is good enough people are willing to stand around outside waiting for it.
There were many in our party but the service was prompt and the food was served hot. We had the won tons and spring rolls- both delicious. I recommend the Russian instead of the Ginger dressing. Some ate seafood some had pasta and others had spare ribs. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. No one had room for dessert. This has become a yearly vacation spot and Freda’s is now on our list of restaurants to eat.
