Sad to say my wife and I laughed through most of our dinner. We had been wanting to dine at Louisa’s for over a year. We called for reservations exactly 6 days ahead as requested and arrived with our BYO in hand. The place is cute and deceptively exclusive. As was well until the food started to arrive. My wife’s tomato salad with roasted garlic was a plate of lettuce with a few chunks of Roma tomatoes and a very uninspired dressing posing as the roasted garlic. At $7 each my appetizer was the catalyst of the evening’s humor. Sesame noodles with ginger peanut sauce. Better describes as cold spagetti with peanuts and salad dressing. As the main courses arrived we knew that Louisa’s was meant for a different type of food lover, one that can not cook. Both or fish selections were over cooked and the hyped sauces were far from inspiring. We continued to smile across the table a we had so very much wanted to find a gem in Louisa’s but it was not to be. In short if you know how to cook at all, then you will feel as if you should walk back to the kitchen and swap places. This may have been an off night, but as some other locals appeared to enjoy their fare my recommendation stands, that if you enjoy cooking go elsewhere when visiting cape may. True shame as this cute spot is perfect for a world class hole in the wall restaurant. maybe the next owner. Till then.
