Stopped here for breakfast with my wife, and what a beautiful spot to eat. The only drawback was the girl who was seating people as she was surely overwhelmed, but we will chalk this up to her being new ( I hope). Sitting down you are overlooking the ocean and beach. Omelettes seem to be their stronghold, and the western I had was good. The hash browns are very good, and my wife’s waffle was light and fluffy. We would go back, very relaxing to enjoy breakfast by the ocean.
A Veggies Delight. I saw that McGlades on the Pier stopped serving breakfast/lunch at 2:30. Hmmm, it’s 2:04, can I do it? I head down Ocean Ave and find a spot on the street. Get out and go to put money in the meter, 1 hour and 44 minutes still on the meter. Score! Across the street and down the walk to McGlades. I wait to be seated and the young gentleman that is seating me mentions something about seeing if they are still serving. What? It’s 2:12 PM and I have an excellent parking place. The fates were kind and I was seated with a breakfast and lunch menu in hand. The breakfast offerings all looked enticing but I had already eaten breakfast many hours ago. Lunch it is. There it is, on the left side of the menu, half way down, veggie sandwiches. The number one veggie catches my eye and that along with an unsweetened ice tea are ordered. The sandwich is cheese, the freshest, tastiest tomatoes I’ve ever tasted, avocado, crispy cucumber, sprouts on a whole wheat bread with mustard and mayo. In just a few minutes the server, Morgan, brings out my lunch along with my drink. Piled high on the plate is a mix of fresh fruit. Two watermelon slices, three orange wedges, and a piece of cantaloupe. With the first bite of the sandwich I’m struck by how good the tomatoes taste, how crisp the cucumbers are and how well the creamy avocado compliments the two. The bread is soft, the cheese is present but not overpowering and the sprouts, well, they’re sprouts. The location can’t be beat, the food perfect on a hot day and the portion generous. The server, Morgan, was attentive without being overbearing and I didn’t feel rushed even though they were closing until dinner. I would eat here again without question. Some of the best tasting and healthy food I’ve tasted in a long time. I can’t wait until breakfast (7:30 until 2:30).
I like the vegetarian sandwiches.
Fantastic seafood.
