  We spend every summer in Cape May and have tried nearly every restaurant in town. Additionally, I never write reviews. We headed to the Merion Inn for a nice dinner, as we had been there before and had really enjoyed ourselves and the food. This time, we went with our (very well-behaved) four year old son. There were several other tables with two and three children around his age as well. The bartender treated us very well, as did the host. The waitress was a whole different story. She came to the table already seemingly annoyed, quickly gave the run down on specials, including prime rib, my husband’s favorite (w med to well done options still available).We ordered the burrata salad, she quickly corrected me and said it was an heirloom tomato salad w burrata – we can read. Next I tried to order the wedge salad and politely asked to add steak (I’ve done this at many other restaurants). Her response was a nasty look and ‘we have never, ever done that.’ So I asked for any protein to be added, the best she could do was shrimp. Next we ordered chicken tenders for our son and she again gave us attitude when we asked for vegetables w them and a Shirley temple. The final straw – my husband orders the prime rib medium (his preference is rare but he wanted to try it). She says there’s only well done available. We looked at each other and said, just cancel the order – we’ve never done this. She leaves for the check and quickly returns saying they have medium prime rib available – too little, too late. We will never go back!

  Great Food. Awful Service. Not worth paying an expensive penny for small portioned food, and getting a negative Nancy.
