Not like the old NY delis. I’ve been eating in Jewish delis for over 60 years. I’ve been all over the US, and have even eaten pastrami in Paris. There are few delis today that compare to the delis of old, especially the good New York delis. So I found Fred and Murray’s disappointing. I’ve been there a few times and found the food to be mediocre. The pastrami and corned beef are dry and flavorless. The cooked dishes are nothing special. Certainly not like mama used to make. The portions are modest – but who needs a large portion of food unless it’s terrific?
