Manager ‘blew off’ my request to make me food without an ingredient I’m allergic to. Some friends of ours took us to Justin’s for dinner on a Tuesday night. Even thought Justin’s is an Italian restaurant, they don’t cook with olive oil. They use primarily soybean oil which is MUCH cheaper. I’m allergic to soybean oil and almost every restaurant I’ve gone to has helped me out by cooking my meal with butter or olive oil or canola oil. I spoke to the manager at Justin’s and explained my problem. I told him I would eat any dish on the menu he felt he could make for me without soybean oil. Even as I was speaking to him I could tell that he understood but either wasn’t taking me seriously or just didn’t care. I suspected that he completely ignored our conversation and therefore ate very little of my meal, but I got quite sick anyway. It seems that the food is a good value for the price but I would gladly pay more for better, kinder service and I’d pay almost anything to avoid being sick like that.
