One of the best Greek restaurants around! Very tasty food and great service. Definitely a family favorite.
Pithari. One of my favorite places. I have tried nearly everything on the menu and it is all good. It is a bit pricey but worth it. I love the small store next store where I pick up olive oil and greek wine. Love the octopus dishes, soups, phyllo dishes. Its all great. Great service
Pithari. Excellent! This is the best Greek food on this side of the Atlantic. Better than any I have tried in Astoria Queens. It is in the middle of nowhere, but worth the trip! Make reservations, there is always a line on the weekends, but worth the wait.
Good Enough Food, Rather Pricey. Overall, I was pleased enough with the food at Pithari, and the ambience is certainly appealing, but I’m not sure that their prices are justified by the dining experience. With the final reckoning of the bill, our luncheon tab came to $35 per person. This included soup, entre, a soft drink and dessert. The dining room is charming. Tile floors and, of course, a blue and white motif on walls, tables and chairs. Bazuki music plays softly in the background. All in all a cheery, uplifting experience. Service is efficient, not overly friendly, but friendly enough.I started with the avgolemano soup. It was a rich, tasty concoction with chicken, orzo and just enough lemon flavor. The hummus starter and freshly grilled pita was excellent. I was a little disappointed with the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves); they were on the small side and appeared to be standard manufactured variety. However, the spanikopita (spinach pie with phylo pastry) and pastitsio (lasagna-style noodles with bchamel sauce) were both enjoyed by my dining companions. For dessert, we had baklava and walnut cake. Both were very good. I just can’t get past the prices. First off, they charge for soft drink refills, something I consider mean. As far as the menu items, we have a new place (not nearly as fancy) in town whose prices are less than half of what we paid here, and our favorite Greek restaurant in Florida, comparable to this, has prices that are at least 1/3 less than Pithari.
Great food, great service and great feel to the place. Loved it.
Authentic and amazing Greek food! Just like being in Greece! Definitely get the tomato soup and dip your pita bread in it. Love it here!
Best Greek Food in NJ. Place is excillent when it is consistent I recomned going on the weekends, and definetly try the Xtapothi and fresh Yuvetsi.
