A gem – scallops were perfect and the stuffed quail special appetizer was sublime. Chef David stopped by the table to chat and so did the owners. Great atmosphere and service. Don’t miss it!
Have eaten there twice and both times the food was great. But the service was slow. Waitress was attentive and nice, refilling drinks and bread. The kitchen was slow. I would still recommend it to everyone but tell them not to be in rush for food. Enjoy a drink, your spouse or friends and don’t miss the fantastic view of the lake!
Good food, amazing Lake Hopatcong view.. I’ve been to Alice’s about a dozen times since it opened. Each time I leave with the same thoughts: good food, amazing view. I can’t deny that the menu items are always creative, ever changing and presented with great flair, but the food is just good. Not what I’d expect from Chef David Drake. For example, Friday I visited there with my wife and another couple. I had a special dish: tile fish. It was good, but not great. Same thing with my wife’s risotto was good, but not great. Meatloaf was my friend’s dinner choice which was dry. Again, good creative food combined with decent service is the consistent theme from Alice’s. I will be going back, no doubt. I do hope the Chef steps up the food just a notch. All and all, I’d recommend Alice’s with the aforementioned disclaiming comments.
You can’t get anything at Alices except a bad experience!. The restaurant did not honor our reservation. The service was poor and it took too long to receive our order. Food was bland.The hostess did not care if we were dissatisfied with our experience.
We went here with our two young children. The staff was so nice to them, bringing them toys, huge cups of crayons & coloring books. Fab place to eat! Can’t wait to go back on a date & enjoy the outdoor bar seating facing the lake. My new fav.
Great place! Think they worked out all the kinks since opening day. Sitting on deck overlooking lake is pneminal! Food so far so good.
