Raw Bar!!. My son and I are well known Oyster Junkies. Well the relatively new J-Towne had a Raw Bar sign so we gave them a shot and they rocked it. Despite the place being quiet between lunch and dinner our the seafood took a little long… and they were out of crab legs and peel and eat shrimp so the raw bar platter was off. But those pesky facts fade when you consider the incredible quality of these oysters. Very riendly service, great beer list and very nice atmosphere. A touch on the pricey side… but I would walk over hot coals for these oysters!!
J-Town. Just had a terrible entree ‘special’ . Beef tips strogonoff over linguine. They served it in a bowl with Bleu cheese all around the outer portion of the dish, & a large dollop of bleu cheese puree in the center. They didn’t mention it in the entree description. Chef Boy- r- Dee would have been better. I asked what happened to the chef who was making wonderful dishes there only a few weeks before & the waitress told me they FIRED him.$17.99 for a bowl of slop. I’m never going back! I guess they figured they could save a lot of money with a couple of amatuers in the kitchen.
The service was fine, but the food was not. I ordered the paella and it was awful. It was severely over salted and all of the seafood was dried out. My husband’s steak was supposed to be medium well and it was rare. The only good thing was sitting by the fire to eat. We should have went to the Jefferson Diner next door. Like I said, I wanted to like it, but…….
Well , I tried it again and just like before the service at the bar is poor!! Left our seats, where we had just ate some apps and still had drinks , to go have a cigarette and came back and area was cleared and 2 new people in our seats, should have just turned and walked out without paying, they probably wouldn’t have noticed16 May, 2012Food is average, but overpriced…stayed to hear the band, which was very good….but sitting at the bar, we couldn’t get any drinks, service was very poor!!!
JohnMathers434. I’ve been going since they opened back in December. I love the new menu. There’s something there for everyone now. Anything from sandwiches to high end steaks. Very consistent and the owners are full of life and personality. We feel so much at home there. Even our daughters go there with there friends for happy hour, which is twice a day! They start happy hour again at 10pm every night till closing. Very very in expensive and great happy hour selection! Love this PLace!!
Service was good. The food was really good and the service was excellent. The place looks great and comfortable enviroment. They also have great beers to choose from and bartenders make great drinks.
Not the same food…inconsistency. We used to go there a least once a week until they keeping changing the menu and prices, now we went there last past saturday night for dinner, very very unhappy, the onion soup that my wife always asking about it everytime we go there is not the same anymore, the marinara sauce is not the same anymore, fish (salmon) is blend and not well seasoning, the roasted potatoes was hard and old and the service changes too !! the waitress took about more than 10 minutes to bring bread to our table of 6 !!!! must be new waitress, new chef and new manager, there is much better place in the lake than this one…six of us dined and each sampled each other’s dishes, the only thing than we like this time was the j towne salad !Don’t know if we’d return
