New Orleans comes to Keyport. Drews is a magnificent restaurant that I highly recommend. Chef Andrew Araneo is back and better than ever, after having lost his previous restaurant to devastating Hurricane Sandy. His new place is up the block on higher ground & bigger and brighter. This is one of the few restaurants that is worth the monthly trip from North Jersey. My wife & I always order extra dishes to take home so we can savor another meal before our next visit. Some not to be missed dishes are Voodoo Shrimp with spicy worcestershire cream sauce & Jalapeno cornbread, Escargot (which is better than any french restaurant) with Bentons country ham, gorgonzola, garlic butter & grilled bread to soak up the addictive sauce, Crispy Pork Rillettes with ancho chile bbq sauce & jalapeno cole slaw, the best shrimp & grits up north with shrimp, bentons bacon, mushrooms, tomato, scallions green chile & cheese grits, fall off the bone braised beef short ribs with pearl onions, mushrooms, bentons bacon, & smashed potatoes. You must save room for my absolute favorite dessert the salty-pretzel-chocolate-caramel-tart. It is the perfect balance of salty & sweet!
