Surf Taco is along the same lines as Jaws tacos on Maui, Rubio’s in Califronia and Fins in Bradley Beach , NJ. It is Mexicali with the emphasis on the Cali.They give you a choice of salsas. Mild, verde. Baja and hot.With the dozens of times I have gone there and I do prefer Fins or even Cielito Lindo which is much better. I got tired of the dirty bathroom, extraordinarily unprofessional service if you want to call it that and substandard slop.The last time I went there I asked for a Baja taco no cilantro Some employee with a bratty nasty attitude told my husband I did not say no cilantro I said no sauce. First of all I ask for no cilantro everywhere all the time with NO exception. So she was in the wrong but even if she was not she did not apologize or offer to change the order and had a super nasty attitude for no reason at all! Or perhaps she is one of those people who get offended when she is wrong and caught in the wrong. In any case I will never be back and I am glad to give all of my business to Fins! But really it is the owners fault for hiring or keeping people who are consistently unprofessional

Although the food is pretty good, it is on the expensive side. Perhaps the worst thing about Surf Taco is the service. Even taking into consideration a delay for the busy shore season, the average wait for a measly taco is 20-30 minutes. The place is run by incompetent teenagers with no sense of urgency. I’d try one of the other nearby places in town for faster service and better prices.
If they have the Care Asada, get it…. Surf Taco has some very good quality, fresh tacos made with quality ingredients. The typical Surf Taco is made with cod and is delicious, but whenever I see the Care Asada taco on the specials menu, I get it immediately. The steak is great quality, the spice is spot on, and the avocado cools it off perfectly. The balance of flavors is absolutely perfect.I would go even more often if it was on the regular menu.
I love Surf Taco. That is all I have to say.
