WILL NEVER GO BACK. Made a reservation, Our table was ready when we arrived. Was greeted cheerfully then went down hill from there. We were put in a little corner next to the back door, our waiter came over opened our bottle of wine. VERY shortly after that they wanted our orderwhich we were not ready. She came back in a minute or so, we ordered asked for water, then olives and bread arrived. Our food came out very quickly and it was OK tasted a bit strange but OK… During our meal at least 3 people came over and askedif we were finished. My plate was half full? Finally after 6 staff members in about 10 minutes kept wanting to take or plates, we gaveup and said wrap it to go. Talk about RUSH !! We felt that the customer service UNLESS you were a regular, was of a no importance to the staff. Sorry but we will not be going back, to many other restaurants in town to help support!

Will not be going back. Went to this restaurant with high expectations, left very disappointed. We arrived our table was ready, we were seated quickly. Sat a while before waiter came to open bottles of wine. When he did come over he opened wine but did not ask if we wanted water or any other drinks, nor did they bring water. Bread was brought out, butter in little containers like at a diner. Soups came out next, pasta fagioli and the tortellini. The tortellini was ok, the pasta fagioli was weird. The appetizers were brought out 2 minutes after the soup was put in front of us. 2 of the people in our party that had ordered soup also had ordered apps. Table was crowed, timing could have been better. The appetizers were ok. we had mozzarella and tomato, mozzarella and corazza, calamari (frozen) and the mussels pernod. We had to ask for a few items, grated cheese, balsemic vinegar, lemons, the waiter seemed totally annoyed each time we asked for something. Dinners came out, and again food was ok, but nothing outstanding or great. we had the short ribs, chicken franchaise, osso bussco, bolognese and pasta norma. Overall, service and food mediocre at best.
Don’t bother. I do not know how New Jersey magazine decided that this is the best new restuarant. I had one of the worst meals ever. Chef owner Jose should perhaps spend more time in the kitchen than answering the phone, I ordered the Burrata, tomato and basil appetizer and was served a refridgerated mealy tomato in New Jersey on August 18th when the best tomatos in the world are available….Why? For dinner I ordered the spaghetti with clams, mussels, scallops and calamari. Every piece of fish was like rubber and the watery red broth was tasteless. My companion ordered the fettuchini with crab and asparagas. There were shreds of something that might have been crab and bits of something that might have been asparagas on top of tasteless noodles and cherry tomatos. We did not stay for dessert and will never return to this restuarant again.
If you want LOUD this is your place. While the food was above adequate, the hostess was not the mostest. When she was done kissing and hugging the guests, talking to the owner, and playing with her phone…. Then she decided to come to the table for the first time. Thank god for the efficient service people otherwise I would have asked for a refund. Find somewhere better to have dinner.
WONDERFUL FIND!!. This is a must go to restaurant! I consider myself a picky eater and for me to say that I was happy with every part of my meal is a HUGE compliment. I will happily be back and also recommend the Limoncello Cake, out of this world! Enjoy!
I don’t even like it, I LOVE IT!. Chef Jose Velez purchased Ristorante Due Nicola, in August and recently changed the name to Toscania Trattoria. My husband and I ate there last night with another couple, dinner for 4 at this BYOB, sans tip $135. The menu is Italian with Chef Velez, adding a special flair. The dinner and atmosphere were both delicious and inviting. My husband and I had the Muscles Pernod a special that evening, scrumptious. My dinner from the menu; Fettuccine alla Polpa di Granchio, was delectable. A mouth watering Cannoli and Espresso finished the meal! The wait staff was attentive not overbearing. The restaurant was very busy. I almost hate giving this gem 5 stars…. the secret will be out!
