This is one of the better diners with consistent decent food in the area. Naturally the breakfast offerings are overall enjoyable, as any good diner should have, vast choices of desserts, satisfying sandwiches and burgers. But, I write this review because I recently had a craving for good fried chicken and this area has very little to offer that isn’t KFC or Cluck-U, they don’t cut it, so I gave The New Monmouth Diner a try to satisfy my craving and their Honey Fried Chicken hit the spot. Not too greasy, lots of flavor in the batter, not a bit dry. A really good bite and a hefty portion, especially for an area that is so lacking in quality, not fast food fried chicken.

All time favorite diner!
Used to be good. We’ve lived in Middletown for nine years. This diner has gone through a couple of ownership changes. I have to say that we won’t be going back. A recent breakfast was easily the worst we’ve ever eaten there. My daughter loves bacon, and she refused to eat it. My French toast was so soaked in egg that it was yellow. Just horrible all the way around — and overpriced. Sorry to say it, but we’ll be looking for another local place to eat,
GREAT PLACE. Since the new owners have taken over this place is really great. The food is delicious and the service is much improved. They really seem to take pride in what they do. The quality of the food is top notch and the diner is extremely clean. The dessert selection is not just yummy but a wide variety.
New Owners, New Experience. The New Monmouth Diner was recently acquired by new owners (who had owned it formerly as the Middletown Diner). I gave it a shot after I heard there was new management and I was very pleased with my experience.The ambience was nice, the food was great, and the service was very expeditious and courteous. I would definitely recommend this place to try. Being open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday is also a plus! chuonthisfood.com
