Annonomous. My husband and I along with my 6 month old went here just to try it out. For starters they wouldn’t sit us in a booth because they claimed it was a four seater even though 2 people were sitting in a booth next to us. So I had no where to sit my baby and her car seat. We ordered appetizers and I have to admit it was AMAZING but I couldn’t enjoy it with my baby on my lap the whole time. After finishing the appetizer it took 25 minutes for someone to come over and take our entree order. I decided to get the check and leave which took another 20 minutes because I couldn’t sit there with my baby on my lap while eating. Outstanding sushi. We sat at the bar and Nelson made us some incredible, inventive plates – from simple but perfect salmon to toro slightly seared on the blowtorch to amberjack with white truffle oil. Uni is a great test for a sushi place and it’s perfect and fresh. This is easily the best sushi place we’ve been to in Montclair – and it compares to the best in NY-Yasuda, Gari, etc. Definitely go and sit at the bar!
Great service and atmosphere.. Fresh Sushi all the time. Never disappointed. Enjoy!!!
Terrible service given the price.
Cheesecake. I have eaten a lot of Japanese food, both in Japan and the United States. The sushi that I sampled here was ok. While nothing to write home about, I enjoyed it. What set this place apart from the others, however, was the CHEESECAKE. After each spoonful, I found myself getting extremely giddy. I called the waitress over and asked if the chef would consider packaging them, or making them available for parties. So, in short, if you’re looking for sushi, this place is just as good as any around. But if you’re hankering for dessert, there is nowhere else you’d rather be than Aozora.
Never fails. Superb.. I often consider moving back to Montclair in order to be closer to Aozora. Frankly, I am better off out here, because my wife and I can never resist ordering the pricier food there, being as assured as we are in its quality. This was a weekly spot for us and we stop in whenever we get a chance.
