Don’t go. New to the area we went in here with high hopes. In fact when we got there and the place was bustling and the energy was quite friendly, relaxed but clean and with an inviting decor. I’ll cut to the chase…I ordered the Lobster Roll Sliders for a starter. The Lobster saled was dry and while generous in portion there was way too much bread (6 pieces!) Plus a side (they called it a garnish?) of thin fries. On the waiters reccomendation (‘most popular dish’) I ordered the Shanghai Lobster & Shrimp Entree. When I asked what the sides were he said Kale and pototoe….As it turned out the Kale was fried and so greasy I couldnt eat it. And this time the skiinny fries came out AGAIN only in a huge pile. Realizing I had nothing but starch and grease on my plate, and longing for an actual vegatable, we called our waiter and asked for a veggie substitute for one of the grease laden , ‘sides’. He said he couldnt but went and asked the kitchen. They confirmed that he couldnt and refused. Further they insisted these were not ‘sides’ at all, but garnish, contradicting the waiters ealier statement. At this point I gave up and accepted my very dissappointing meal because I didnt want an arguement to ruin the meal.This was the dumbest way to handle a service issue I’ve ever seen. Textbook case. All they had to do was fix a small problem on a $125.00 meal , and they would have had a customer willing to come back and try them again but because they offered no compromise they lose big time. The waiters were ALL male, as was the kitchen…very strong testosterone vibe in the service I might add, more than a little weird. In any case, they they all need to go to Restaurant Management 101 .
Creative Seafood Restaurant in Montclair. Fin is an excellent addition to the Montclair dining scene. They have the freshest seafood with the most creative preparations. My favorite appetizer is pan seared shrimp & chorizo with giant beans served in a crispy taco. Some of my favorite seafood entrees are 7 spiced big eye tuna with soba noodles, speck wrapped monkfish osso bucco with celery root puree, and Shanghai style lobster & shrimp with ginger curry sauce & crispy spinach.

Incredibly rude. Will never go back.. We walked out of there two weeks ago. The owner was one of the rudest, nastiest restauranteurs we have ever come across.There are many wonderful restaurants in Montclair and the Essex/Morris area. There is simply no reason to pay good money to be treated like garbage.
Great Night Out. Just spent a great night out with friends at Fin Raw Bar. The food was fantastic. The service was great, and the place was packed. It’s a BYOB so bring a nice chilled White wine and enjoy fresh great seafood. only bummer is that I didn’t make a reservation and we had to wait for a table.
