I decided to take a chance on Greek Taverna in Montclair, NJ, based solely on the reviews from a variety of food websites (OpenTable, Yelp, Tormato, etc.) and was glad I did. To start, my girlfriend and I shared appetizers of Pikilia, which is a selection of traditional Greek spreads, Tzatziki, Skordalia, Taramosalata and Melitzanosalata, as well as Htapodi Sta Karvouna, which is marinated grilled octopus. Both were excellent though the basket of pita bread quarters which accompanied the Pikilia was absolutely drowned with olive oil. For the main course I had Paidakia, which is roasted baby lamb chops,. They were accompanied by Patates Psites Sto Fourno, which is quartered baked potatoes with olive oil, lemon and herbs. My girlfriend had the Greek Taverna Solomos, which was a nice Atlantic salmon fillet wrapped with sundried tomatoes, mushrooms and basil dressing in grape leaves. This was accompanied by Greek Lemon Rice … Other than the pita bread – which was very tasty once blotted off – our dinner was excellent. We will definitely dine there again.

Excellent. Greek Taverna has consistently good food.we have eaten just about everything too. Of course their burgers rings & fries are good. The beer is cold the service is great and the food is definitely not what you expect in such a venue. The combination of the good food & the owners are what make us eat here on a regular basis. we will never miss an opportunity to eat there. Highly recommended!
AWESOME. What an amazing place to have lunch! This is my favorite restaurant ever!!!! They have the best Greek Taverna Salad,Chicken Salata and Grilled Salmon Salad!! The atmosphere is relaxing the service was great and the food was so good! make sure to go here every time I go to the Outer Banks! This place is not to be missed!!!!

Greek Taverna Was A Pleasant Place For Me An My Girlfriends From College.We Planned A Diner Date Together An We All Are Very Picky About Our Dinning….But Greek Taverna Met Highly to all four of our expectations we loved the fine wine they offer to that was a plus. Dinner at Greek Taverna Montclair. My family, my husband and I had dinner at Greek Taverna Montclair.A party of 12.We didn’t have a reservation, kind of spare of the moment, easy parking, they have a private lot.No problem at the door. When we showed up, they reacted very quickly and set up a table to accommodate us.We were hungry and ordered a bunch of appetizers while we were looking at the menu.spanakopitta -crispy outside and doughie inside, was definitely homemade.Bekrimeze -Nice pieces of pork tenderloin in a tangy tomato sauce.Katsikisio -Salty and sweet melted goat cheese with apricot purree, that went great with the pita.Octopus -marinated in red wine and grilled, served with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.Steamed mussels -steamed in a tomato white wine sauce and topped with feta.Cold appetizer combo-wanted to try out a variety of things and it was all fresh.Greek taverna saganaki -classic fried Greek cheese.The waiter took our dinner order, before we got our appetizer.so we had nooooo idea, we ordered sooooo much food.For our main course we had:Lavraki (fillet table side) -grilled Bronzino with lemon baked potatoes.Chicken Souvlaki -skewer of white meat served with rice.Paidakia -baby lamb chop cooked medium rare, light flavor, not gamy at all.Shrimp saganaki -my favorite sauted shrimp with peppers and onions in a ouzo tomato sauce.Grilled Solomos -grilled salmon served with a ratatouille.Hirini brizola -2 marinated pork chops grilled and served with rice.Service was great–we had a super friendly and attentive waitress.We were served in a timely maner, very smooth.For desserts: (house made, btw, they are still on the tray, right out of the oven)Baklava -fillo filled with nuts served with syrup. Too much syrup for my opinion.Ekmek -very nice, but I have no idea, what’s in it.Galaktobouko -pastry cream and fillo.It was my nephew’s birthday, and they realized that, and placed a candle in his dessert.I guess after reading the previous review, they are under new management.
