Fool MeTwice. We’ve been here twice. The first time we thought that the poor service and lackluster food was an abaration, but our second visit confirmed it. This is perhaps THE most over-rated restaurant in town. In addition to average food and bad service again, it is so loud you can barely think. It must be the out of towners that keeps it popular, because anyone who knows Italian food would not waste the coin. Stay away.

Love this place. Authentic Italian….the barratta (sp?) is amazing. The atmosphere is very rustic, lots of open face brick and natural wood decor. It’s a byob. Bring a bottle of wine and if you are lucky enough, grab a table outside. Quite possibly one of the nicest evenings.

Italian with some twist. After receiving a positive feedback from my sister, my husband and I decided to check out Salute. We received a gracious welcome from the hostess which was a good sign. The decor is rustic and warm. My husband decided that they should make a meal out of the complementary eggplant caponata served with the bread. The menu offers a nice variety of appetizers and main dishes in addition to their specials. We ordered the zucchini flowers appetizer (special) -they were excellent and cherished as they are seasonal and not a frequent guest on Italian menus. We also tried the pear-shaped rice ball, very good in an Aurora sauce. The Aurora sauce is similar to a vodka sauce and loaded with peas. Salute accomodated my husband’s request for the gnocchi with the veal meatlball, brasciole and sausage. The gnocchi were homemade, extremely light, and heavenly. A great dish. Alas, my monkfish with squash/rock shrimp risotto had it’s shortfalls. I was disappointed with the fish as it said grilled but I found it to be over-seasoned. The risotto was tasty and could stand alone. Our desserts were a creme brule and a crepe with nutella and banana gelato. They were good enough to order again but not over the top. We didn’t try the pizzas which looked good, but we can certainly try them on our next visit.

Everyone should be treated equal. Went there last night, with no reservation, was told the wait would be 10 minutes, shortly after, another party of two came in and becasue they knew Jerry, the owner, they were seated by making believe they went to another table to say hello to people and then went and sat down while Jerry was opening their wine. The hostess had said that the our table would be ready after ten minutes, after she realized Jerry gave our table away, she said she said we could sit at the bar, i am 51, and i can still hear, i am not stupid either Ms. Hostess!!! Grow Up!!
