Enjoyed a very nice dinner until the bill came this evening. Van Winkle bourben featured on web site and I thought I would switch from a makers mark bourbon I had been drinking earlier. I asked waiter about than van winkle and he took drink order and left. He came back and said yes he had it but it was 12 yr old but called pappy van winkle 12 yr old. I ok’d it thinking how much could 12 yr old cost ? Bill came and $75 a pour later I was floored. Waiter stood his ground and said that was the only van winkle in the house. Later I found out the bottle on their bar and on web site AND 12 yr old retailed for $59 BOTTLE. Pappy was a 20yr and different label…. They bull shitted my on the bottle they were serving and up sold me to $75 vs what should have been $18 shot. Food and atmosphere excellent but what the booze bill. In all fairness they took off $32 in food costs but I still feel I was taken.

Had open table reservation and glad we did as it was quite busy. Very lively atmosphere. Had a very new waiter who tried hard but needs more experience, he didn’t know what numerous items on the menu where and miss named various items on a charcuterie plate. Overall food was good quite pricey though, probably won’t be returning anytime soon.

Easter brunch 2015. Easter brunch could have been and should have been a much more stellar experience on several levels. the items i selected were superb: the virginia oysters were perfection: the lobster hash was a delicious combo of ingredients; and the pana cotta was as good as you get in italy; however, even for easter the brunch was way over priced ($65.00) and drinks were $25.00 extra ~ not even a complimentary holiday mimosa!, and the menu had very few selections. i was disappointed in the artwork adorning the putty colored walls. if you are using the hallowed name of jockey hollow, why not use the high calibre work of local artists for historic morristown and jockey images!!10 Apr, 2015It could be much more than it was…. The brunch i had was delicious: the oysters were perfection; the lobster hash was a superb combo of ingredients; and the pane cotta was as good as you get in italy! it was way over priced even for easter ($65) and the killer was that drinks were an extra $25 with no complimentory mimosa. the menu did not give you many choices.i was extremely disappointed it the art work displayed. why use the hallowed name of jockey hollow and not have a mural or historic images of the jockey hollow area and historic morristown adorning the putty colored walls of the vail mansion??!!

This was my second visit. This place is a talk of the town. We walked away disappointed. The wine list is exhaustive, but finding a good bottle at a reasonable price point turned out to be exhausting. We ordered at the bar, Oysters and chicken… Oysters were fine and chicken was undercooked. BTW, when I came here the first time, I got grilled octopus, undercooked. We sent the chicken back and replaced it with a sirloin steak. It was mediocre. I may come back for drinks and to hang out with my friends who love this place, but I only wish it was BYOF (Bring Your Own Food).08 Jan, 2015This place was highly recommended to me by a friend. I came with high hopes. I walked away disappointed. Perhaps, I just hit a cold, off nigh. Here are the key Issues: the staff came across distracted and chatty (with each other). The oysters came in reasonable time, the octopus appetizer took an extraordinary long time, and came undercooked. A couple turnoffs that need fixing: diluted liquid soap in the bathroom and the toilet that doesn’t flush. This place is capable of being great, but last night was in dire need of management with focus. I will try it again…

Total disappointment. I went to Jockey hollow kitchen because a friend recommend it. I had high hopes but I ended up totally disappointed and spending a lot of money for a very average meal and a very average service. The food was served overcooked and cold. This place is advertised as New York dining in New Jersey but it is far from being a New York restaurant. Not even in Manhattan they charge 56$ for brunch…..beverages not included! RidicolousI do not recommend this place
