St. Patrick. I wouldn’t be caught dead drinking in Thatcher McGhees in Pompton Lakes, NJ. We Irish don’t rape each other $17 for a guiness and a shot. And no receipt for the taxman, be Jesus.
Food was excellent & very large portions. Thatch fries were awesome. Finally found a place to fill up our teenage son.
4 1/2 Star. I would rate Thatcher McGhees a 4 Star place becasue the food is great, it is for kids and adults too. But I have to say that it is too loud sometimes. It disturbs you from eating. You can bring your kids there but only at the right time. I reccomend 5:00pm-8:00pm.
4 1/2 Star Restiruant. Thatcher McGhee’s is an Irish Restiraunt. On one side of Thatcher McGhee’s is a bar, and ont the other side it is a Dining Room. You have a choice to sit outside or inside. I rated it a 4 1/2 Star place becaue when you sit outside, it is not peaceful. All you hear is trucks and cars coming by. It is very loud. But over all, the food is great and the people are friendly.
Excellent casual dining!. Great place to kick back with friends and family. Separate pub and dining areas make it the best of both worlds. The pub side is vibrant and usually pretty filled, so get there early if you want a bar stool. The times I have been there they have had local cover bands and the drink prices and specials are very reasonable.The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is always excellent and the menu offers many traditional Celtic dishes as well as American comfort food. The Shepherds pie and beef and lamb stews are some of our favorites.The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is welcoming. Highly recommended for casual dining.
Great Place !. This corner in Pompton Lakes has historically tanked for whatever reason. The black cloud has been lifted with this better than average Irish Pub. The pub itself is cleverly decorated and clearly no expense was spared on the craftsmanship. The owners recently acquired additional parking in the back to accomodate the large and loyal following of patrons.The menu is a combination of typical bar food along with classic Irish dishes. Thatcher Fries are just one of the exclusive or trademark items on the menu. The portions are more than ample for the price. Service is excellent as well.Durring peak hours, the place is packed and after dining hours the bar is typically hopping. If you don’t like crowds, find a library or a Barnes & Noble because this place gets cranking with great live entertainment. Also be sure to be courteous and respectful of fellow patrons as they take security there very seriously.Definitely one of the most popular place around right now, and with good reason.
