AMAZEBALLZ! Love the name of the sandwiches. They taste even better than the names.
Cheap, tasty takeout. Wide selection & fresh.
An unpretentious classic in a snobby town.. Put this shop in any place but Princeton and it would just be run of the mill greasy sub shop in a college town. It is the shabby chic place hidden amongst the town n’ gown and reviewers(and ordinary folks) go bonkers for their simpleton makings. Nonetheless, their off the grill sandwiches are really creative (likely thunk up by stones college kids with the munchies) and actually really good if you eat on the spot – don’t wait 10 minutes as it starts to cool and the nastiness parts seperate from the whole. And they now have the best steak sandwich in town now that the Carousel has closed down after decades of rule.
Love it. I went to college in Princeton and lived on their bacon cheesesteaks and turkey subs. 6 years after graduating, I still drive an hour out of the way to stop there any time I’m in the NY/NJ area. Fine dining it’s not, but the food is fantastic. This place is great!
AHH The Parking!. First time in Princeton… picked the wrong day… Alumni were in town… streets were crowded.. and it was rather warm out… walked all the way from the parking garage… like 2 miles to this deli.. and was not disappointed!I wish I would’ve got more food from there to go.
Wowwoo wee wooo :{). Went today, very crowded. I thought it was funny they had no tables to sit, but who needs tables when your customers have dorms to go back to. The walk back to the car to eat was painfully long and our mouths were watering. Good thing my date loves food, Some people have to spend alot on their dates, I just have to fill her tummy and shes happy.Big portions and cheap prices. Good tastes.
Hoagie Haven! Need I say more? The line out the door says a lot too…quite possibly the best cheesesteak I have ever had. I have been coming here since I was a kid in the early 80’s and have loved it from the day I had my first bite! Everything down to the fresh rolls they get baked everyday…quality ingredients! Once George took over ownership in the late 90’s, the quality has gotten even better.I caveat all of this with saying, these are the best only if you don’t mind the buckets of grease that drip off! Just look at the stains on the sidewalk under the benches and you will understand!
