Good Thai Food – menu could use an update.. I like Gao – having something different from the usual plethora of Italian, new american and chinese restaurants in the area is very nice. And I have yet to have a bad experience. The service is fast and friendly, and everything I have ever tried from the menu is tasty. I would like to see some new dishes though. After eating here the past few years, I find myself getting bored with the same choices. But for someone yet to dine here – go, and enjoy. you will love it!
In an area filled with good Italian restaurants, this place is a welcome change. In town on business for two weeks, I discovered GAO 5 days into my stay, and have had dinner there 3 times. The curry salmon was perfectly cooked, crisp outside and moist inside, the cashew shrimp and yellow curry seafood were just the right amount of spicy for me. The staff is polite, appropriately friendly, and helpful. The restaurant is clean and parking is plentiful and free. If I resided in the area, I’d be a regular.
It’s okay. Certainly not great. But not bad and good for this neighborhood. Byob.
Absolutely delicious!!! Especially good with special orders, even over the phone! I am looking forward to my next visit to Gao Thai Kitchen!
I’ll be back. I enjoyed my meal. I had the Red Snapper with chili sause. Not bad. The flavor of the sause was great. I appreciated that the waiter offered to chop the head off for me and even to cut up the fish to make it easier to get through the bones. It wasn’t needed but hey, you pay $22 for a piece of fish, that’s the least they can do for you. We had curry puffs for our appetizer. They were okay. But I’m always comparing people’s curry puffs to the first ones I had, which were ridiculously and incredibly delicious. So, you might love these if you have no other reference point. Anyway, I like the BYOB option in Ramsey, NJ. Many of the restaurants around don’t offer this option. My friend had a seafood dish and I tried her crab meat, shrimp, and scallops, with a coconut sause, which was all pretty tasty. Her meal was $23. So, I plan to return to this spot to try some of the more reasonably priced meals, maybe during lunch. So, I’m going back. I hope other cheaper meals are too because I live close to the place and I really like Thai food. My favorite close Thai spot is Ridge Thai, which may be slightly better than this new spot–and a little cheaper too. But I have to drive farther away from home and the parking can be a problem at times. Parking at Gao Thai is perfect and free all of the time! So, maybe I’ll let you know how it turns out after my next visit. Enjoy!
Thai in Ramsey. My wife and I went to Gao Thai Kitchen last night for dinner and loved it. The food was fresh and fantastic. Got the pineapple baby back ribs and the thai crepes; which I haven’t seen on any other Thai menu in the area, for appetizer. The ribs were meaty and have great flavor. The crepes are more like little dumplings with a sweet chewy center, so I wouldn’t want to eat to many of them in a sitting but I’ll get them again. For dinner we had the Black noodle with Chicken and the short rib massaman. Both were excellent. I had more rice brought to the table to soak up the massaman sauce. The staff was great even though we took our time finishing all the wine we bought at the liquor store across the street; that’s right it’s BYOB. All and all a great addition to the dinning options in Ramsey. We will be back for sure.
