Craving Clams!. I am not a seafood person. At all. My brother however, LOVES seafood. And with that, I’ll trust his judgement. He absolutely adores Uncle Vinnie’s. When he is craving clams-that is THE place to go. (so he says) 🙂 He keeps trying to get me to like seafood. He says if there’s any place that will change my mind-it would be Uncle Vinnie’s.
We’ve never been disappointed by this great neighborhood Italian/seafood place where everybody knows your name. It’s best to try them on a weeknight first because it can be quite a wait if you just show up at 7 on a Friday, but worth the wait anyway. I’m almost reluctant to give the accolades Lois and Louis and their team at Vinnie’s deserves because it means more people will be getting my place at the bar. Best of the house: Clams Oreganato, Ceaser Salad, anything on the special menu or try the calimari fra diavalo over linguini. Their red sauce us excellent. And one more thing I love about Uncle Vinnies…BEEFEATER MARTINIS!
Bad News. The service tonight was terrible. We sat at the bar – and sat and sat. The bartender/waiter had no clue what he was doing. Then the dinner arrived – I ordered scungilli without pasta – you guessed it – I got pasta. When it arrived back corrected it was like rubber, probably from being frozen too long. I settled for what turned out to be a very undersized portion of linguini with oil & garlic for $12.00! We’ll go elsewhere next time.
The Best!. Great food with a great atmosphere! Yes, Uncle Vinnie’s is a bit noisy and crowded but that is the charm of it! If you are cranky or want a seat immediately you will be disappointed, but all the people crowding through the doors can’t be wrong. Uncle Vinnie’s has the freshest seafood in the area! It is a small restaurant and bar that serves Italian style seafood. The patrons are friendly and lively and the service is excellent! Don’t like seafood??? UV has the absolute best chicken parm in the area. The bartenders can mix a mean cocktail while you wait and the wine and beer selection is top notch! A neighborhood institution, UV contributes to local charities, schools and churches and the owners are always there to shake your hand and ensure that you are happy.
A small neighborhood seafood restaurant with great food and friendly service. Uncle Vinnie’s seafood is the freshest around and prepared to perfection with an Italian slant. The quarters are close and there is always a crowd, but the food is absolutely worth it!
Avoid. This is a very noisy setting. The front glass reflects noise from the tables resulting is an almost deafening din. However, this was surpassed by the service, if you could call it that. The waitress was surly and bitter. We waited for over an hour (ant they only have about 10 tables) and decided to leave for better fare.My recommendation is to avoid Vinnie’s.
